Re: Beijing 2008 - Benn - 08-03-2008

Yes, this is a great event. It's only once in 5 years, that's why we have no right to miss it. Generally, this year is the year of sports - EURO 2008, Beijing 2008!
Good for sport fans! Confuseduper

Why are you saying that? What about EU countries? As far as I know there is no barrier for them in participating in Beijing 2008 competition.

He means that the greatest winning potential is behind those countries, and I sure agree with that. Just think, even mathematically the probability for a good sportsman to be born in one of the listed countries by willyoumind is bigger than in other countries that are smaller. However I remember small countries to deliver surprises along years, like Nadia Comaneci from Romania, I still remember that.

Re: Beijing 2008 - Hakan G - 08-07-2008

Congratulations everybody! The Beijing Olympic Games are starting today!! Confusedlurp
We’ll be watching close, especially the gymnastics’ competition and the synchronic swimming

Re: Beijing 2008 - Steven - 08-07-2008

Personally I will follow tennis. A lot of intrigue jumps around this sport. Four years ago I didn't used to follow tennis tournaments, so now it will be for the first time when I will be watching tennis as an Olympic game!

Re: Beijing 2008 - Karl.in.eu - 08-07-2008

By the way, have somebody ever been at the Olympics in person before?

Re: Beijing 2008 - Steven - 08-07-2008

Actually I wanted to go to Beijing this year, but my wife doesn't allow me because she's afraid an earthquake could happen again in China.

Can you tell me then, If you were aware of the ticket prices, especially for the opening ceremony?
I really have no clue about their price range

Not that expensive. But I saw a news flash by the end of July, and it said the last ticket for the opening ceremony was sold for 19.000$ at an auction: lol:

Re: Beijing 2008 - M.Helen - 08-08-2008

for 19,000$ I would by an entire cinema and watch these games from my home.

Re: Beijing 2008 - willyoumind - 08-10-2008

The U.S. is currently on the first place, but the China will surely given their 110% to get over it... Smile

Re: Beijing 2008 - Karl.in.eu - 08-11-2008

Today an English reporter told that the fireworks that we saw LIVE during the opening ceremony were computer-rendered, and pre-recorded on a tape .

I wouldn’t be upset about this, but I was totally shocked, to see a poor show of fireworks, from a country that invented this stuff. I remember well watching the Athens and it was more beyond this.

Yep, and thanks for the clarification, Karl...

The game has been started over three days, China and America are still leading in the medal list, and it's quite a surprise that the Russia didn't even won a gold medal until now...

Re: Beijing 2008 - Benn - 08-12-2008

Today China won all the possible golden medals in track and field athletics . Romania, which earlier used to show excellent results, took the 7th place.

Re: Beijing 2008 - Terry - 08-14-2008

There will be no all-Williams sisters final in Beijing as both Serena and Venus were knocked out at the Olympic Tennis Centre.

That’s horrible. I couldn’t watch the replay.

Re: Beijing 2008 - Hakan G - 08-17-2008

I couldn’t EVER imagine that this can happen.

Re: Beijing 2008 - Terry - 08-18-2008

how is it possible? I mean these sportsmen are trained to avoid such things. Security is learned in the first two years of a sportsman activity.
