Re: Tasmanian devil jeoperdized - Benn - 06-08-2008

are these animals are useful in some way for humans? I mean maybe they are eaten in New Zealand or maybe are used for producing remedies?

Re: Tasmanian devil jeoperdized - Terry - 06-25-2008

The Tasmanian state government estimates that the number of devils has dropped from around 150,000 in the mid-1990s to between 20,000 and 50,000 at the end of 2006.

Re: Tasmanian devil jeoperdized - Steven - 06-27-2008

the desease is spreading south and west, and scientists estimate that within five years, there will be no disease-free population in Tasmania - the only place in the world where the devils exist outside zoos.

It's a good thing If this cancer is specific only for tasmanians, since other animals could also die because of it.

Did you know their jaws are the most bone-crushing jaws on earth

This is how the above-mention desease (DFTD) manifest (if you are nervous, don't watch this)

Re: Tasmanian devil jeoperdized - willyoumind - 07-31-2008

I did read an article about the Tasmanian Devil in Orble...

According to the research, those little cute Tassie Devil are undergoing some evolutions to prevent the whole species from totally extinct on this Earth! Way to go, Tassie Smile

Re: Tasmanian devil jeoperdized - Benn - 07-31-2008

how does this evolution manifest? Or maybe you wanna say the desease itself is an evolution?

What are you talking about willyoumind? How can they evolve if the disease is now killing them all over they live?

Re: Tasmanian devil jeoperdized - Karl.in.eu - 08-30-2008

Have you heard of Natural Selection? This is a natural type of selection were only the animals which were able to perform the proper changes and adapt to the new conditions survive.
