European Zone World Cup Qualifiers (South Africa 2010) - Hellenicoz - 12-13-2008

From the European Zone Football World Cup Qualifiers:

.Which countries will qualify for South Africa 2010?
.Who will be the surprise qualifiers? Eg: Slovenia-(Japan/South Korea 2002)
.Will there be any unexpected non qualification? Eg: (England-Euro 2008)
.Will there be first time qualifiers? Eg: (Ukraine-Germany 2006)
.Can a European nation win the Football World Cup outside of Europe for the first time?

Let me start with my predictions.

.Countries to qualify.
Portugal, Greece, Czech Rep, Germany, Spain, England, France, Italy, Netherlands, Denmark, Russia, Turkey, Serbia.

.Surprise qualifiers.
If any Slovakia or Israel, but have predicted none.

.Unexpected non qualifier.
Croatia

.1st time qualifier.
Predicted none but if had to choose one it would be Slovakia.

.I think the European nations will find it difficult to win on the harder pitch surfaces in South Africa. Netherlands & Germany if any.

Re: European Zone World Cup Qualifiers (South Africa 2010) - Steven - 01-31-2009

I would exclude Greece and Serbia from your qualifying list
Surprise qualifier - Romania, it changes its football strategy right now, so we'll just wait and see

I don't know... football is so unpredictable, just to remember how Russia beat Netherlands.. it was awful...
I don't know if it is worth making forecasts, as many of the matches will be bought, I think.

Football is a sport where results are difficult to be bought, since you have to buy 11 people at once. I'm not including here some other intermediaries on the way to victory, like referees.

Re: European Zone World Cup Qualifiers (South Africa 2010) - Nathan - 04-06-2009

Portugal is in danger, as it may not even qualify for Euro 2010, having only 7 points. Also, a pity for Romania, which scored two goals into the Serbian gates, but the latter was above them.

Re: European Zone World Cup Qualifiers (South Africa 2010) - M.Helen - 04-06-2009

Russia might show again an unexpectable game. It has almost ensured itself a place for the world cup having 12 points. In Group 9, Netherlands is really enjoying its game, I think. Smile

Re: European Zone World Cup Qualifiers (South Africa 2010) - Benn - 04-10-2009

I can't imagine what prices we should expect for World 2010. The previous year, prices for Euro 2008 tickets were very expensive, the average being 200 euros. As for 2010, it should be higher due to higher level of organization. Save money starting from know if you wanna see WC 2010 Smile

At the moment your predictions isnt looking too good.

Currently Greece are in 1st place in Group 2.
Serbia are in 1st place in Group 7.
Romania are in 5th place in Group 7.

My predictions of Portugal & Turkey qualifying are not looking good either.

Portugal are in 3rd place, 7 points behind the top two Denmark & Hungary.
Turkey are in 3rd place, 4 points behind the 2nd place Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Still there are many more matches left in qualifying & thing can change very quickly.

Re: European Zone World Cup Qualifiers (South Africa 2010) - Terry - 04-16-2009

we forgot to mention Brazil of course. This time it will take its revenge on Portugal who disgracefully forced it out of the Championship in 2006

Brazil isnt in the European Zone. Anyway it was France who knocked out both Brazil in quarter final & Portugal in the semi final 1-0 at the 2006 World Cup.

I am not a fan of football, but what I really like is the atmosphere of the World Cup or European Cup. I like to support my national team and I like watching football games and at the same time enjoying drinking beer.

Denmark, Germany, Spain, England, Serbia, Italy & Netherlands have already qualified for South Africa 2010.

It looks like Sweden, Turkey & Croatia are no chance of qualifying other than miracle results going their way.

Cristiano Ronaldo Injury To Heighten Tension Between Portugal & Real Madrid - Report
The national team are set to have Ronaldo assessed by their own medical staff...

Nov 6, 2009

The fitness of Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to heighten tensions between Real Madrid and Portugal once again with his national team set to call him into the squad for their World Cup play-off, despite Madrid saying he is injured.

After returning from a visit with specialist Dutch surgeon Dr. Niek Van Dijk it was revealed by Real that the winger will not need surgery on his ankle and it is believed he will be ready for a return to action in approximately a fortnight.

However with Portugal set to play both legs of their crucial World Cup play-off against Bosnia on November 14 at home and November 18 away, it appears the national team coach Carlos Queiroz set to call the player up to the squad on Sunday to be assessed by their own medical staff.

"Cristiano wants to come, he will come to the squad and will be reviewed by the medical team," Portuguese Football Federation president Gilberto Madail said, according to AS.

Real's director general has given the club's stance on the matter in the clearest terms saying that his absence from games is proof he is injured.

"If we have not used him [Ronaldo] these last few games it was for a reason. It is doctors and common sense that keeps him from playing with Portugal. We hope to have no problem because the medical part is clear," he declared bluntly.

Ronaldo's last involvement in a game came in Portugal's 3-0 win over Hungary on October 10, even though he missed the previous game for Madrid against Sevilla. During that World Cup qualifier he suffered a recurrence of his troublesome ankle injury and has not played since with club and country expressing conflicting views on his ability to participate in the game.
