Do we actually need Eastern Partnership Initiative? - JennieMC - 08-12-2009

Do we actually need Eastern Partnership Initiative?
Hi everybody! There’s been a lot of talk about Sweden and its Eastern Partnership Initiative recently. However, I cannot understand yet whether we need it at all? Swedes argue that it is absolutely necessary for us because “Belarusians can contribute their unique history, culture and language to Europe…”:
// charter97 . org/en/news/2009/7/20/20239/ . Yeah, really this dictator Lukashenko is sure to bring in a lot that will make hair of any ordinary European stand on end!
// charter97 . org/en/news/2009/8/4/20697/
// charter97 . org/en/news/2008/7/4/7917/
Am I wrong? I don’t think we f***ing need either Belarus, or Ukraine and Georgia!! Anyway, Sweden should stop seeing the world as green and easy! Otherwise all our debates about human rights would be like talking to the wind!

to analyze whether social .... then yes ... but I do not believe that Lukashenko would like and would initiate a European dominance. is hiding something political in the middle and perhaps a coalition,a support Belarus in front of Russia.
yes probably you're right about Eastern Partenership ... they will only bring headaches because Russia will eat them alive after what they did .. especially Ukraine and Georgia ... and if we accept them then will be forced in a way to help them,and in this way we go after them in the gap..

I do not think that will come up here ... We have evolved not only technologically but also intellectuals from the second world war. A third war of such proportions would mean death for our mainland, cause now no longer used weapons as in the past but with weapons with a stunning destructive power.

O yes ... Lukashenko and Georgia seem to concern too much a person who wants very strongly to heat up a riot in Europe...

Such partnerships are usually intended to create stability, but main they are for integration. The can lead to association agreements that set the track toward EU membership - and another aim it to associate the country with the European Union and "teach it to be a European nation."

The final product of the EU's intentions are not these two nutjobs in power when both countries get their accession treaties. ;( The EU had every intention of bringing the FRY (Serbia) into the EU fold as Milosevic was still in power. When that distant future comes - we should expect he equivalent of Boris Tadic in power in both countries. Sustained contact and EU engagement through aid, trade, visa liberalization, and the like, will improve the conditions in the countries.
