How deified is the Buddha in all the different sects of Buddhaism? - ChrisRKapp - 01-24-2011

Ok I understand that the broader sects of buddhism are Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajryana and these sects have many sub-sects that can be said to be a part of them but with differing emphasis on certain aspects of buddhism. From least to most which sect deifies the Buddha the most and which deifies the Buddha the least?

you can get yourself into jail in Thailand for being disrespectful to a budda statue, certainly a practice the man would not have sanctioned
