How to fight against laziness? - M.Helen - 05-13-2008

A friend of mine became totally lazy over the past several months, she doesn't want to do anything but staying home and surfing the internet. How can I help her?

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Babuin - 05-14-2008

Electroshock? Wink

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Admin_phpbb3_import1 - 05-15-2008

What would you like her to do, instead of surfing the net?
Surfing the net is an interesting activity that requires time and effort as well as any other activity.

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Terry - 06-03-2008

electroshock might help, but I think if she just stops in the middle of the room and do nothing (I mean absolutely nothing) for, let's say, half an hour, she will want to do something. I read that in a psychological book. It can be a beginning for removing laziness

Laziness is a disease, I consider. If the people who surround you are lazy, you can also become lazy, no really, no joking. For treating this disease, you need a strong will

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Faw_Peter - 06-11-2008

you'll have to know exactly what things are you looking for in the internet and just do them as fast as you can. Don't pay attention to other things

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Terry - 06-12-2008

Imagine what you could do if you didn't surf the internet, and compare it with the actual consequences - you didn't managed to do anything, your results are bad, your parents are mad...
This must make you WORK! Wink

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Steven - 06-23-2008

- Wake up with good thoughts;
- Think about what you have to do and simply do it;
- Don't postpone what needs to get done;
- Eat three times a day, make exercises, get enough sleep and create spare time out for yourself.

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Faw_Peter - 06-24-2008

find a thing to do which will motivate you indeed. Usually laziness appears when you are not enough motivated to do something.

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Steven - 06-27-2008

You know it's difficult to practice laziness when surrounded by motivated people. Try to live with hard-working people.

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Terry - 06-29-2008

Try to Imagine what would happen to you if you continue to do nothing. Imagine your enemy being surrounded by money and whatever he needs and you sitting in front of computer and playing computer games :banghead

You can try doing the best thing you like, I don't know maybe dancing, singing etc. It will make you happy, and when the sould is full of hapiness you are motivated to do anyhitng, even to work!

Re: How to fight against laziness? - M.Helen - 07-03-2008

I told her, if you don't have what to do, you can help your country - join the army, navy, marine corps Smile

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Faw_Peter - 07-07-2008

the best way to fight laziness is to prevent it. So when does the laziness appear? It usually appears on Friday in the evening when you start to think "Ah, I have enough time tomorrow to sleep". And when you wake up on Saturday at 13:00 you realize that the day is lost, and there is no important thing you can do today. Thereby you are covered up by laziness.

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Benn - 07-09-2008

Preventing laziness is imortant, I agree. If I have a project to finish, and it's late and I'm tired I leave home, even if I say million times I will finish it today.
You have to have a will to prevent laziness - don't be lazy.

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Benn - 07-10-2008

Try this method:
find somebody (a friend) to bet 500$ you are going to do the things on time for, let's say, 1-2 weeks.
This will motivate you.

Playing computer games isn't laziness, it's just more interesting then doing other things.
Some people just don't get enough vitamins that's why they feel like they don't have energy to do anything worth doing.

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Steven - 07-12-2008

computer games is like a desease, first you say "oh, I'll just play for 15 minutes". When you look at the clock, it's already evening and the whole day is lost!

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Terry - 07-20-2008

I once was swallowed by the game "Fifa '06". I beat the record, playing 12 hours. And I didn't realize that until I looked at the clock.

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Faw_Peter - 07-25-2008

in this case, if you are conscious that computer games swallow your time as a whirlpool you have to delete all the games from your computer. At the beginning it will be difficult to get used to that, but time treats everything.

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Terry - 07-30-2008

Be careful people, summertime is the best time for laziness to swallow you! Beware! Smile

Totally agree with this, I have no games in my computer for more than 2 years, and that's great.
And I can tell you from my experience that it wasn't really that hard to delete them and keep this strategy.
I think it happens so, because you know that there is a game on your computer, and you're not addicted bout it, but just thinking to give it a try and it begins...

Re: How to fight against laziness? - willyoumind - 08-12-2008

At least your friend didn't get lazy with the net surfing stuff...

Since her love to surf the net, why don't you give her some hints that she also can get some pocket money for writing reviews/articles or posting on the forums...

Re: How to fight against laziness? - Faw_Peter - 08-12-2008

I don't think a girl would do that stuff. Generally, I don't think a job in the net is a job for a girl. Helen should find another solution for her friend.
