What are your favourite quotes? - Steven - 06-27-2008

You can write here and comment the quotes of philophers, politicians and other great people you liked.

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Lord Acton

Very topical quote for the countries which now are dominated by a single absolute leader who has the whole power in his hands.

True love is like ghosts, which everyone talks about and few have seen.
Francois de La Rochefoucauld

I like it because it's true. I would also say it's like the aliens. Maybe love is invented...

"You can have everything in life that you want if you just give enough other people what they want."
Zig Ziglar

Life is a balance I think, what you give you receive.

I like this one:
A diplomat is a man who always remembers a woman's birthday but never remembers her age.
Smile
I'm trying not to pay attention to a woman's age and she becomes more beautiful!

"Every really new idea looks crazy at first."

Realize that, and you will succed. Never fail to try!

Re: What are your favourite quotes? - Benn - 07-20-2008

“I laugh, I love, I hope, I try, I hurt, I need, I fear, I cry. And I know you do the same things too, So we're really not that different, me and you.”

you can tell this quote to a girl, when she says you are "so different". Prove her wrong.

"If you could choose one characteristic that would get you through life, choose a sense of humor. "
...an optimistic one...

Ok, so here it is a famous quote (especially in business):

Greed is good.

Greed works.

Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit.

Greed, in all of its forms -- greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge -- has marked the upward surge of mankind. 8-)

I remember these words from a movie, starring Michael Douglas. I forgot how it's called. The movie is about making money in New York.
So you Hakan seem to be very greedy, right?! :x

In fact, like actually - I'm not. I just love the way it expresses "the greed phenomenon". :-)

Re: What are your favourite quotes? - Terry - 08-14-2008

be careful and never forget, dispite Mr. Douglas's words, greed is not good.

I cannot agree that greed didn't contribute to the evolution of the humankind, and should be treated only as a bad thing.
The economic competition is based on the greed aspect, and it marked the history with numerous innovations or even new inventions.

"Love truth, pardon error" - Voltaire.

I hate being lied to, and I always value the truth. I have a tendency to get real p***ed if someone lies to me but I need to just forgive and forget. It causes too many problems otherwise.

"Don't start any vast projects with any half vast ideas."?... closer...

"No matter where you go, there you are!" ... I like it! Confuseduper
