Every time when the holiday season comes, along with the happy sentiments fear devours me. All my family is happy to see themselves at the airport but me - all shaking. It affects me so much that I really don't enjoy my holiday in the end. What shall I do?

Nicholas, there are special training courses for those who fear travelling by air. The coach will make you forget about the plane and relax to full extent. Try searching some companies engaged in your country. By the way, it's a little bit expensive, as far as I know.

I'll give you an advice, Nicholas:
Try to climb on tops of skyscrapers. Everything is about the fear of height. If you manage to get use your organism to big heights, your brain will dispose of the fear. Try to look straight down from the top for about 10 minutes, be careful of course. Do that everyday and believe me, the fear will disappear in 1 month!

Well, I'm afraid of planes too. Well, maybe, not that bad but still...
So every time the plane prepares to take off, flight attendants will usually serve candies. So I grab a couple and make sure I enjoy them and read all their ingredients, and then– Voila! You're already flying. :-)

didn't know sugar can calm. However, an advice of mine is to put your headphones on and play the best music for you. It will make you relax.

It does not calm you. The candies captures your attention and you lose the thoughts of fear.

If the flight is long, I guess there is no problem to take a few somnifacient pills. It's artificial stuff, but it really is efficient.

For those who are afraid of flights, it would be useful not to watch movies like "Final Destination", relax when the plane takes off and think of somebody/something you love the most.

Nicholas,
Did you have any tragedies happened on you before? As I'm also a Claustrophobia patient, where I'm scared to being trapped in the elevator since I had a very terrible incident 7 years ago inside an elevator in a local shopping mall...
If you did, then you should find yourself a therapist to help you out from this fear!

Combat fear by travelling more often by plane. You will get used to that and will even like it. Choose airlines with more modern planes.

The virtual reality might come here for help. I mean there are special virtual glasses which, if put on, create the impression that things you see there happen to you indeed, actually they don't. So you can train your emotions by watching movies filmed in the sky etc.
