Ancient Rome in 3D
#1
Google Earth has a great 3D virtual tour of ancient Rome in 3D. Take a look at the intro:

it's nice, but, anyways, knowing the fact it is not real, leaves you not the best impression. Google earth will make people travel less, which is bad indeed.
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

WoW, it's an awesome view, but same with Benn, I would prefer to travel and catch the beautiful sceneries with my own digital cameras Smile

Unless you have a time machine, I don't see how you could do that. But you could look at the ruins. For some people, that's enough for their imagination to travel back in time. I personally like a bit of reconstruction. And the digital reconstruction works fine (for me).

why is this free? what's the google's profit and point from showiong this stuff for free?
Imagine a discussion at a round table - "Have you been to Rome?"
"Not yet, my internet is down" Smile
"I believe in making the world safe for our children, but not our children's children, because I don't think children should be having sex." Smile

How beautiful and perfect is created a virtual world not ever exchange to the real one. However the reality is the most surprising and amazing!
