Two decades have passed after the fall of the Berlin Wall
#1
Two decades have already passed after the fall of the Berlin Wall. At first glance, our East Germany has got far ahead of those neighboring countries, which have had to transform their socialist planned economy on own authority, without that great help (over $1,9 trillion), which our citizens has got from western half of current country. But in reality economically such our reunification has been devastating for the East Germany. Only now this failure is taboo to speak of here.
For example, our press keeps silence about such results of West Germany’s governmental strategy as great growth of unemployment here (over 50,000 steel workers from East Germany have lost their job and 95% of all businesses in eastern part of the country have less than 50 employees!). Disastrous restructuring such successfully developed in East Germany industries as the shipbuilding industry, car and car supplier industries, as well as the chip and IT industries has led to full de-industrialization of East German industrial zones! Today business struggle against our Western rivals threatens to all that has been achieved in East Germany.
Thus, if we don’t want to accept these losses, we should find solutions of present difficulties, which is impossible without our realizing the fact that 20 years of reconstructing East Germany could not result in prosperity of our people at all!
