People suffering from diabetes and smokers are more prone to experiencing these problems than others. It goes without saying that teeth and dental care should be a priority for this group of people, more so than for non-smokers for example. The only way to care free gums is keeping a healthy and hygienic daily dental care routine.

Along with other obvious health problems, smoking causes, as said before, extensive damage to your teeth. Causes
Gingivitis begins together with bacterial plaque. This invisible film -bio film- is usually composed of bacteria deposited on the teeth, when the starches and sugar in food interact with bacteria, usually found in our mouth.
Brushing removes plaque, but it is submitted again in less than 24 hours. The microbial plaque that remains on your teeth more than two or three days hardens, making it into tartar, a white substance that makes the plaque to be more difficult to remove and which is a really reservoir for bacteria.

The bad part is that already formed tartar can be hardly removed by brushing and cleaning with dental floss. Most likely, have to go to a dental surgery to remove the tartar. The more plaque or tartar are on tooth surface, the more irritates the upper gums, underlying teeth. Over time, the gums will swell and will bleed easily.
Although microbial plate is by far the most common cause of gingivitis, there may be other factors:
Medication. Some medicines contain ingredients that diminish the amount of saliva. Because saliva has a cleansing effect and inhibit the multiplication of bacteria, this means that the plaque and tartar can makes easily;

And better, you can brush your teeth after every meal or snack. Normally, for brushing to be effective, must last from 3 minutes to 5 minutes. More attention to the brushing process, than to type of toothpaste. Some manufacturers claim that their tooth paste removes microbial plaque and tartar or kill the bacteria which develop the plaque. Truth is, any toothpaste removes microbial plaque if you clean your teeth properly. Anti-tartar toothpastes have, indeed, the advantage to prevent re-submission of tartar.
Conclusion? When used properly, even toothpastes with fluoride relatively inexpensive removes plaque as good as special pasta;

Use dental floss. Most of us ignore this part of cleaning teeth, because as we all recognize, is a tedious task. Recent studies show that we obtain the same result if you rinse your teeth with antiseptic mouthwash after each brushing. Antiseptic mouthwash is effective because it contains essential oils that kill germs, that toothbrush may "escapes". Mouthwash is more effective if is regular combined with dental floss and brushing.
Consult your dentist. Besides daily brushing, floss and mouthwash, it is important to present yourself to the doctor regularly.

Parkinsons disease patients are also said to have some of the worst dental problems due to weakened hand to mouth mobility, as well as loss of ability to brush. This is why they are advised to up their oral hygiene and visit the dentist more often.
