How can i find a job in Ireland?
#1
I live in America, and my cousin and I want to move to Ireland for a few years. How would I go about finding a job in Ireland? I've looked on several job sites, but it seems like they would automatically choose a current resident of Ireland over someone who doesn't live there yet. How can I best secure a job there before going? How does the work visa process work? Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Smile

look on the following website www.jobs.ie.
but i understand from Family in Ireland, Jobs are becoming hard to find these days. My cousin says there is not enough work or Jobs for the Irish, in Ireland.
So you might find it Hard and Difficult, to find employment in Ireland, Like the rest of Europe, Ireland is feeling the Credit Crunch

Hi, if you want to move here for a few years you'll need to get a work visa and these are restricted to in-demand professions (e.g. architects and doctors), just like for work visas to the US. Unemployment is rising here so they will not grant work visas for areas where there is a readily available pool of resident workers. Because there is free movement of labour throughout the EU, where there are vacancies in non-specialist positions, they tend to be filled by European migrant workers, so you will find it hard to get a visa on the back of one of those types of jobs.

Alternatively, if you have an Irish parent or grandparent, you can apply for an Irish passport which will entitle you to live and work here for as long as you like.

Your best bet is to contact the Irish embassy in the US and ask them to send you out an information pack, as they will have the most up-to-date information on immigration policy.

Otherwise, try and track down a couple of illegal Irish immigrants in Chicago or New York and see if you and your cousin can cut a deal. If you marry them, they'll get to stay in the US and you'll get to come here... ;-)
