India offered proposals for a free trade agreement (FTA) with Europe but a lot of work remains to be done, a European Commission spokesman said. Both sides have already offered to cut tariffs on 90 percent of goods in terms of volume.
we'll have more tea in Europe now!

why do you think we'll have less food valentine?
that would be a good experience for both sides. Indian producers will have an incentive to produce more as exports will be made easier. Europe will benefit of a wider range of Indian products
This FTA will give advantages to european companies that have their production in India
I don't think we need new products in Europe. The market is overload with all kind of products from all over the world, it will only advantage India and the European producers from India (which are mostly from UK).
Past experiences show that such agreements offer to transnational corporations more freedom to exploit workers shaping the national and global economy to suit their interests. In simple terms it removes all restrictions on businesses.
Transnational corporations are very strong. They have the power of almost a government. If a transnational corporation gets richer, the country it carries out its activity in is only becoming richer.
a government can nationalize the industry used by certain transnational companies and their business would be ceased. That's why these enterprises are not stronger than governments.
Take a look at what happened to Venezuela, after oil nationalization.
Well, Venezuela is an exeption. Because companies usualy take into account the political situation and stability before investing. Confuseduper
Can you imagine one day turning on the TV and hearing the news that MIcrosoft has been nationalized by the Bush governmetn?!
That would be funny :-)
At least they’ll be able to cut down their debt, which is increasing tremendously since the Iraq story
Does it mean that India will be the competitor of giant China if India enter on a free trade zone in EU?
