that is a very unusual behaviour from his part. I can imagine how the audience felt at that moment - fear surrounded them. The article states Bill later assured the audience that the mosquitoes are malaria-free, but I am sure later everybody went to doctor to check their health
Bill Gates is a practical man. Probably when preparing for this meeting, he thought: "Ahh... will it make sense to explain them all the stuff about maleria?" He considered it more efficient to impose a couple of moments filled with fear. And it worked.
I can't stand insects... I would fall into swoon if I saw this. He said that none of the mosquitos were maleria-infected, but, is it possible to 100% check each of them? What if somebody got infected? Legal suits staking at billions would rise immediately.

well yes, otherwise he would be bankrupted by legal suits for indemnifying. People are hungry you know, when they see a rich guy Wink
Bill Gates know exactly how to influence people's consciousness. Plainly talking to them about the effects of maleria is useless. Non of us can realize the threat of this danger. So what Bill did, was an effective marketing act.
