WASHINGTON – British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said Wednesday an "economic hurricane" has swept the world and U.S. leaders shouldn't view the crisis as limited to America's borders.

these are words said a sign of desperation. Brown knows it very well that both US and UK are facing problems that may liquidate their ranking as the most powerful nations in the world. He seeks help in US, as he feels Europe has turned his plans down. Brown's power in Europe is more and more reducing.
I believe it's very good that both countries acknowledge their bad positions. It's worse when the truth is denied. Brown's visit aimed to establish close relations with the new Obama administration, so I think he managed to do it.
