What can you say about it? Even I Russian barbarian can say that it is a solution to prevent any wars Smile . Look. If for example Georgia, tried to call Russian EU's and USA's business into the country for investment, make a common soccer league with SO and Abkhazia, attract tourists, said sorry to SO and A for that war in 90th. Have negotiations with them tried to be a friend for Russia and USA, not serve to them, but be neutral. It will be a paradise, little country with a wide trade, a lot of tourists. I cannot understand, of course somebody will say it is a Russia who is guilty in it, but do you really think so? It is not about a Georgia, but for all of hot points in the Earth.
Sports really does help forgetting conflicts. For example, the Olympic Games calmed down the tensioned situation, previous year during the war. As for trade... no. Trade means competition. Namely due to trade/business governments start wars. The more a country expands its business in other countries, the more is its influence growing in those countries. Thus, trade is not a cure, however it is necessary for economic development.

And what would you suggest Terry? Indeed, trade is competition, but, at the same time it wouldn't be possible for a state to grow unless it makes trade transactions with its members. One point to mention here: I mentioned fair trade, and not the hidden schemes practiced by many governments.
Newrusian you seem to be a great optimist. It's all great what you're saying, however we don't live in the stone age to disregard such things as influence, greed, money etc. The 21st century is cruel enough, so parts of the world can't be that friendly.
Education is the fundamental element. Countries, regions must unite their way of educating children. Especially it concerns history. They should be taught in a way, so that no digression appears between real facts and whast is being taught.
