I am an upcoming senior, and I love love history and politics. I'd like to get an idea of the type of career I want to pursue so that I can better decide on a college.
Politicians tend to use both politics and history- run for public office! Lawyers, too, use history, though politics not so much...
just saying...you should take psychology

look into becoming a lobbyist...they don't make much but they fit your interests
History is not an easy path. If you want to teach the subject at any collegial level, you are looking at about 8 years of papers and presentations. Other alternatives include specializing in a discipline (museology, anthropology, archaeology, archiving, ethnology) or writing. With my BA in History, writing remains my passion yet I work for myself and must fight every day to be published.

I even took a sabbatical to ponder if History was the way to go or if accounting, medicine, law would be easier (proposes a job at the end and yes, I had the grades). Finally, nothing could dissuade me or my passion for History. I learn every day and I regret nothing.

Good Luck.

The End.
