Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Dima - 09-18-2008 One unexpected result so far: Roma 1-2 CFR Cluj-Napoca Re: Champions League 2008/09 - M.Helen - 09-18-2008 Cluj is a weak Romanian team. That is an unexpected result indeed. Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Dima - 09-19-2008 However, Roma isn't doing well in the Serie A though. After the first two games only one point: Roma 1-1 Napoli Palermo 3-1 Roma I wonder what place is Cluj in Romania's League now? Are they in the top part of the table? Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Benn - 09-20-2008 Last year Cluj was on the first place in Romania (76 points), followed by Steaua. Now it is on the 11th place with 12 points. But a lot of time remains to improve results. Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Steven - 09-25-2008 some updating FC Porto 3-1 Fenerbahce Juventus 1-0 Zenit St Petersburg Lyon 2-2 Fiorentina Man Utd 0-0 Villarreal Real Madrid 2-0 BATE Borisov Steaua Bucharest 0-1 Bayern Munich Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Hakan G - 09-27-2008 Man Utd 0-0 Villarreal - this was a disappointing match. a reaaaaaal waste of time Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Terry - 09-27-2008 the upcoming matches for September 30 Group Home Away E AaB 20:45 Man. In the Russian Premier League, being #5 now, they are struggling to get a spot for next year's UEFA cup. Probably, they should have sold Arshavin for 30-50 millions and bought some new fresh players. Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Faw_Peter - 10-25-2008 Dima, there are still chances for you. Zenit has little, but still, has chances to gain points. On October 21 they played 1:1 with Bate, that's bad... BTW, did you expect the result of 3:5 between Steaua and Lyon? Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Dima - 10-27-2008 Faw_Peter Wrote:Dima, there are still chances for you. Zenit has little, but still, has chances to gain points. On October 21 they played 1:1 with Bate, that's bad... No way! Yes, theoretically they can get up to 9 remaining points, but that is extremely improbable. The most they can hope for now, in my opinion, is the third place and switching to the UEFA cup. Steaua 3-5 Lyon is a bit surprising! But Lyon is a more serious team than Bate. Also notice how Lyon had played before that game: Steaua 0-1 Bayern Munich Lyon 2-2 Fiorentina Bayern 1-1 Lyon Fiorentina 0-0 Steaua Lyon tied in Munich, while Steaua lost to Bayern at home! Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Steven - 10-27-2008 I heard Steaua's owner - Becali (a local Romanian billionaire) raised the question about replacing the coach. He said "No good coach would afford to lose the match after leading 2:0". Re: Champions League 2008/09 - M.Helen - 11-05-2008 Results for November 4 A CFR Cluj 1-2 Bordeaux A Roma 3-1 Chelsea B Anorthosis 3-3 Internazionale B Bremen 0-3 Panathinaikos C Sporting 1-0 Shakhtar C Barcelona 1-1 Basel D Liverpool 1-1 Atlético D Marseille 3-0 PSV Roma-Chelsea is a bit surprising. Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Dima - 12-14-2008 My predictions for winners: Champions League --- Liverpool UEFA Cup ------------- Milan or CSKA (Moscow) The result, Barcelona 2-3 Shakhter, is incredible! Have you heard that Real Madrid wants to buy Arshavin from Zenit St. Petersbug? Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Hellenicoz - 12-19-2008 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 knockout stage draw: Chelsea FC (ENG) v Juventus (ITA) Villarreal CF (ESP) v Panathinaikos FC (GRE) Sporting Clube de Portugal (POR) v FC Bayern München (GER) Club Atlético de Madrid (ESP) v FC Porto (POR) Olympique Lyonnais (FRA) v FC Barcelona (ESP) Real Madrid CF (ESP) v Liverpool FC (ENG) Arsenal FC (ENG) v AS Roma (ITA) FC Internazionale Milano (ITA) v Manchester United FC (ENG) Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Dima - 12-20-2008 Chelsea FC (ENG) v Juventus (ITA) -- is one of the hardest to predict. I think Juventus will win. Good luck Juve! Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Steven - 01-31-2009 Next matches Atlético - Porto Lyon - Barcelona Arsenal - Roma Internazionale - Man. United Real Madrid - Liverpool Chelsea - Juventus Villarreal - Panathinaikos Sporting - Bayern Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Dima - 02-13-2009 Guus Hiddink has become Chelsea's new manager. I am sure this wizzard will be able to make Chelsea win the Campions League! Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Terry - 02-13-2009 Guus Hiddink will train the English team until summer. It will be difficult for him to permanently travel between London and Moscow. I suppose Abramovich forwarded this proposal after Russia's success in Euro 2008. Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Benn - 02-17-2009 After hiring Guus, Chelsea is now hunting after Russia's best player Yurii Zhirkov. This player is als headhunted by Juventus and Roma. But, it's most likely that Chelsea will get him, since Abramovich's financial power is almost unlimited. Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Dima - 02-19-2009 Not only Zhirkov! Guus has recommended to Abramovich to buy both Zhirkov and Dzagoev. The latter is the young star (not yet 21 years old) who already plays for the Russian national team! Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Terry - 02-19-2009 agree with you Dima, just watch Dzagoev in action, a real Russian Ronaldinho http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9t5DrWqU ... re=related I wonder what amounts will Abromovich offer for them...? Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Steven - 02-20-2009 Considering Arshavin was bought for 22 million dollars, Zhirkov probably values above this amount. Really big expenses for the club. Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Faw_Peter - 02-21-2009 Chelsea today is playing a game against Aston Villa. Aston Villa is now the third in the country's ranking. Guus Hidink said it is going to be a tough game. Can't wait to see the outcome. Re: Champions League 2008/09 - Benn - 02-22-2009 Congratulations to Chelsea, it has won the game against Aston Villa 1:0. This proved once again that Hidink is a lucky coach. Players must now open their pockets for Abramovich to put some things in them.
