Re: Overpopulation - Big_Becka - 09-02-2008 M. Helen, I had no idea other countries still did this! The £100 is for a child trust fund - the parent chooses how to invest the money, but can't (or shouldn't) spend it themselves. The scheme was only started in the last couple of years. The idea is to provide some money towards a University education or a first house (since both have become expensive in recent years :x ). It IS a miserable amount of money - barely a week's rent on a small flat - and uneducated families don't know how to invest the money so that it will be worth anything in the future. However, there are very generous child benefits and allowances available for families. I have heard that an unemployed parent with several children can claim the equivalent of a professional's salary! Re: Overpopulation - M.Helen - 09-04-2008 yes, you are right. Some people even deal with child-making, as with business I think the US also envourages this policy, isn't it? Re: Overpopulation - Terry - 02-08-2009 Helen, Canada is supporting this policy. Canada's resources and potential are not fully exploited due to shortage of manpower. That's why Canada needs bigger population. Re: Overpopulation - Steven - 02-20-2009 Australia's population is very small, in 2006 it was 2.6 persons per square km. It really needs to encourage immigrants and foreign manpower to come. But also, take into consideration that most part of Australia is not populated, only places situated on seashore are. Re: Overpopulation - Benn - 02-25-2009 take a look at what is happening in China, it's awful Re: Overpopulation - Steven - 03-01-2009 a half of China is populated by 50 people per sq. km. While only Beijing itself has about 18 million inhabitants. The same matter concerns Shanghai and Hong Kong. But, normally density within rural regions is much lower than in urban areas in UK. In China this difference is not so obvious. The Easter part is overcrowded. Nature takes what is it, and do what she wants and where she wants. At least there is something against which man can not be over, because otherwise the Earth would turn slowly in a precipice. Re: Overpopulation - Steven - 08-20-2009 Peach Wrote:With so Many accidents with earthquakes, wars and floods soon will not have to worry about this problem This situation is not funny at all. It's really sad what you say.And what is really worse is the fact we might soon overtake their place. What are you going to say in that case, mister? Re: Overpopulation - hellodear - 08-24-2009 Recently, the Population Crisis Committee complied a human suffering index for each of 130 countries based on ten measures of human welfare. They found a high correlation between the level of human suffering and the rate of population increase in countries. The 30 countries falling in the extreme human-suffering range--all in Africa and Asia--averaged a high annual rate of population increase of 2.8%. The 44 countries with a high human suffering rate--all in Africa, Asia, and Latin America--also had an average annual population increase of 2.8%. Re: Overpopulation - tricker - 09-13-2009 In Australia it shows a real demographic explosion among aborigines. According to analysis in the next ten years their number will increase by 1.5 times, which greatly surpasses breeding of "whites". This boom will be due to improve of living conditions and successful medical programs. Re: Overpopulation - Terry - 09-19-2009 The economic crisis is good for, it seems, life couple. Since when is a recession and have less money, more and more Americans dropped their night out and spend their leisure time at home. Specifically in the bedroom and not give expected result. In fact is more than just fun. More and more children were born or come into the world in the coming months. Specialists talk about a real phenomenon "baby boom", not surprising in times of hardship. If coming into the world a child is generally a pleasure, recession shows its adverse consequences in this area. Many young moms skip the regular checks and ultrasound, all for lack of money. Re: Overpopulation - Steven - 09-21-2009 According to certain estimattions, the population on Earth will be 15 billion by 2050! How are we, people, going to share this big but, still, cramped Planet? Look how Indians live... I hope this estimation is not true... Re: Overpopulation - Nicoli - 12-13-2009 I think that giving out free condoms and and making family planning more widely available can help to slow population growth. There is the link between population growth and climate change. According to last reports, the world population could rise to 9.2 billion in 2050, and the most growth is in less developed regions. Re: Overpopulation - Lorry - 12-17-2009 i think the climate is solving this problem by itself killing a lot of people all around the world in hurricanes, measles, and flood. Because of the overpopulation the climate is suffering so it brings to that calamities which happens more frequently than usual, and in such situations it is unexpected.
