Security improves - Faw_Peter - 05-27-2008 Italian police arrested 53 alleged members of the Mafia organisation, known as the Camorra, in the southern Campania region on Monday. They are accused of Mafia association aimed at extortion, and money laundering. Police seized over 80 million euros in assets, among them several properties and businesses. Among the arrested is a chancellor that works in the Naples public prosecutor's office, Antonio Orefice. Italy's four main criminal organisations are the Sicilian Mafia, the Camorra in Naples and the surrounding Campania region, the 'Ndrangheta in the southern region of Calabria, and the Sacra Corona Unita in the southern Puglia region. I think there should be. At least mafia must have some allies in the government in order to cover their crime actions. Re: Security improves - Hakan G - 08-30-2008 I know that in the last few years, like in 2000, I think, there was a large police operation, they arrested a lot of mafia people and along with them some high officials. Mafia is a Italian crime organization. I don't think we can define any crime group in the world as being Mafia. |
