Role of NATO in modern world? - John - 04-04-2008 What do you think is the role of NATO in modern world? Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - sasha - 04-07-2008 It represent the evil of present wich is mellow in comparision to past evils. I think that it is the instrument of rich wich want to be even richer. It give them the power to threat, and it is good mashine for huge money lowndry operations. EU should have its own independant security system. Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Andrewz - 05-07-2008 There are a lot of opinions which assert that the NATO helps to maintain peace, as well as there are contradicting opinions which actually say it only attracts war. My position is neutral. Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Terry - 05-29-2008 sasha Wrote:It represent the evil of present wich is mellow in comparision to past evils. Sasha I fully agree with you, we should establish our own security system if we don't want anybody to dictate us the game rules Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Steven - 08-28-2008 NATO only brings conflicts in the world, instead of solving them. If anybody can tell me about a case when NATO was useful, bring it on. Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Hakan G - 08-28-2008 I even don't know what it is doing. Really for a lot of time I haven't heard nothing about it. What it is the point of their meetings? Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - clearman - 08-29-2008 28 aug. The Standing NATO Maritime Group One (SNMG1), a group of NATO warships, conducts routine port visits and exercises with NATO member nations bordering the Black Sea since 21 August. The ships are currently in Constanta, Romania and will conduct exercises with Bulgarian and Romanian ships as well as paying a port visit to Varna, Bulgaria before leaving the Black Sea. Vice-Admiral Pim Bedet, Deputy Commander Allied Maritime Component Command Headquarters Northwood stated “SNMG1, as a standing core element of the NATO Response Force, is conducting a pre-planned routine visit to the Black Sea region to interact and exercise with our NATO partners Romania and Bulgaria, which is an important feature of our routine planning in order to maintain high levels of interoperability and cohesion within the Alliance. 27 aug. The North Atlantic Council condemns the decision of the Russian Federation to extend recognition to the South Ossetia and Abkhazia regions of Georgia and calls upon Russia to reverse its decision. Russia’s decision violates the many UN Security Council resolutions it has endorsed regarding Georgia’s territorial integrity, and is inconsistent with the fundamental OSCE principles on which stability in Europe is based. Russia’s actions have called into question its commitment to peace and security in the Caucasus. Georgia’s recovery, security and stability are important to the Alliance. NATO calls on Russia to respect Georgia’s territorial integrity and to fulfill its commitments under the six-principle agreement signed by President Saakashvili and President Medvedev1. 27 aug. The NATO-Ukraine Commission met on 27 August in Ambassadorial session with the participation of the Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Konstiantyn Yeliseyev, Presidential Special Envoy to Georgia, to exchange views on the security in the Euro-Atlantic area in the context of the current situation in Georgia. Special Envoy Yeliseyev provided Allies with information about Ukraine’s perception of the situation in Georgia, based on his recent visits to Georgia, and presented Ukraine’s position regarding recent developments in that country. He expressed Ukraine’s deep concern over the situation in Georgia and its readiness to contribute to the settlement of the conflict, which was appreciated by Allies. Ukraine welcomed and fully shared the Allied position on the situation in Georgia, reflected in the 19 August Statement of NATO Foreign Ministers. The NATO-Ukraine Commission expressed its deep concern over the current situation in Georgia, and its implications on the security in the Caucasus and the Euro-Atlantic area. The NATO-Ukraine Commission stressed the urgency of swift, complete and good-faith implementation of the 6-point agreement signed by Russia and Georgia, including a new international mechanism to monitor respect for these engagements. Our nations support the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of Partner nations. The NATO-Ukraine Commission condemned the decision by the Russian Federation to extend recognition to the South Ossetia and Abkhazia regions of Georgia. Russia’s decision violates the many UN Security Council resolutions it has endorsed regarding Georgia’s territorial integrity, and is inconsistent with the fundamental OSCE principles. Allied Ambassadors reiterated the decision taken by NATO Heads of State and Government at the Bucharest Summit regarding Georgia’s and Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations. Can you see they are still working..... for peace and democracy Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Terry - 08-29-2008 why NATO didn't agree at the Bucharest meeting that Georgia and Ukraine join it? Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Karl.in.eu - 08-29-2008 In my opinion it is just not the right moment. Due to the present military tensions in those countries and particularly in Georgia, by inserting Nato troops will worsen the situation, overall - it's not a solution. Here is a small related article: http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/ ... 9520080402 Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Terry - 08-29-2008 yes, but now NATO welcomes Ukraine and Georgia to join, after this conflict. What made it change its mind? Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Karl.in.eu - 08-29-2008 Actually it was the steal woman, the German chancellor, which was so categorically against these two countries, maybe she influenced other members back then. But now maybe Germany changed its policy therefore Nato has another statement regarding Georgia And Ukraine. Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Terry - 08-29-2008 Actually, you may be right. Germany is a super power in Europe. Recently I heard that Angela Merkel is classified by the magazine "Forbs" as the most powerful woman in the world. This is true, her decision and opinion has sound impact on other countries, including within NATO. Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - SiD - 09-29-2008 from inside NATO parhaps could be seen as defender, from outside, by countries who wants to have independent policy, it is viewed as a treat. This relic of cold war continues to grow and now its growth is out of control. Can you imagine what could happen if Georgia was part of NATO? Collecting problems and position oneself as treat would bring security to someone? Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Newrussian town - 10-04-2008 Role of NATO, is to destroy USSR. Is something changed? Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - romanu' - 10-04-2008 NATO was a military alliance against the Warsaw Pact (USSR and his communist allies). Today, NATO is only a competitor with Russia deals (and "gazprom" Mafia in Europe). Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Newrussian town - 10-04-2008 romanu' Wrote:NATO was a military alliance against the Warsaw Pact (USSR and his communist allies). Gazprom isn't a mafia it is a very wise company which is spreaded it's influense all over the globe. I don't see nothing strange in it. And about Russian mafia , really it was long time ago, but now I don't think that it exist in EU as a big power, we don't have them in RF for sure, the last representive of it, that I saw, was dissapeared 9 years ago. THey all dead or under FSB control. Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - romanu' - 10-04-2008 My little Russian propagandist, all Russian oligarchs, spread in entire Europe, they were of course correctly businessmen in the past, don't you? No Mafia, no corruption.... KGB still working... Tell us who is the president of Gazprom? Show us your cleverness! Maybe Schroder, the ex-chancellor of Germany? What a pity! Bullshit ....America, NATO, Russia, the same bullshit :evil Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - SiD - 10-04-2008 romanu' Wrote:NATO was a military alliance against the Warsaw Pact (USSR and his communist allies). :haha :haha :haha NATO is military allience. It has nothing to do with gazprom or with any mafia. How could you even imagine such a thing? Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - romanu' - 10-05-2008 SiD Wrote:NATO is military allience. Re: Role of NATO in modern world? - Guest - 10-05-2008 Of course, Russia was always in Europe, but you're so big and greedy! If Putin still follows the tzar's policy, the little nations from Europe can easily be swallowed by the Russian monopoly. So that we need Americans to protect us. And Gazprom is a kind of Russian roulette for us..... |
