World of Warcraft on a new iMac? - Aldarion - 01-24-2011 Would World of Warcraft, including all of the expansions, slow down a brand new iMac? I recently purchased the cheapest iMac and I want to install World of Warcaft, but I'm worried that all of the installations and downloads would have a negative impact. Re: World of Warcraft on a new iMac? - Pharazon - 01-24-2011 While it is true that certain programs will slow your computer down when you install them, games are not one of them. Other programs, such as antivirus programs or other utilities that have processes that run in the background can potentially slow the system down, but simply installing WoW will not cause any issues. So basically, it is not the installation of the program that slows your system down, it's whether or not that program has a preloader process that eats up resources. Re: World of Warcraft on a new iMac? - Folcred - 01-24-2011 I have an iMac too, and I have all the expansions. World of Warcraft doesn't really have a big impact on speed with your Mac, HOWEVER, if you do a lot of multitasking while running WoW, applications will slow down temporarily. Hope this helped! Re: World of Warcraft on a new iMac? - Hador-Lorindol - 01-24-2011 Programs should only slow down your machine while running, so games will not slow down your Mac (unless you forgot it open) Look in http://maldy.net to see the value of your char. |
