I hold a Schengen Visa from Finland but can i travel to other countries? - Forrest.M.Ford - 01-27-2011 I hold a schengen visa that was issued by the Finnish Embassy with multiple entries. I have travelled once to finland before. Now can i use the same visa to travel to other schengen states? Re: I hold a Schengen Visa from Finland but can i travel to other countries? - DerekPFleming - 01-27-2011 The Schengen Visa has made traveling between its 15 European member countries much easier and less bureaucratic. Traveling on a Schengen Visa means that the visa holder can travel to any (or all) member countries using one single visa, thus avoiding the hassle and expense of obtaining individual visas for each country. This is particularly beneficial for persons who wish to visit several European countries on the same trip. The Schengen visa is a “visitor visa”. It is issued to citizens of countries who are required to obtain a visa before entering Europe. The following 15 countries are currently active Schengen Visa members: Austria Germany Belgium Denmark Finland France Greece Iceland Italy Luxemburg Norway Portugal Spain Sweden The Netherlands Visa Exemption Visa is not required for citizens of the following countries: Andorra Argentina Australia Austria (EU) Belgium (EU) Brazil Brunei Bulgaria (EU) Canada Chile Costa Rica Croatia Cyprus (EU) Czech Republic (EU) Denmark (EU) El Salvador Estonia (EU) Finland (EU) France (EU) Germany (EU) Greece (EU) Guatemala Honduras Hong Kong (Special Administrative Region) Hungary (EU) Iceland Ireland (EU) Israel Italy (EU) Japan Latvia (EU) Liechtenstein Lithuania (EU) Luxembourg (EU) Macau (Special Administrative Region) Malaysia Malta (EU) Mexico Monaco Netherlands (EU) New Zealand Nicaragua Norway Panama Paraguay Poland (EU) Portugal (EU) Romania (EU) San Marino Singapore Slovakia (EU) Slovenia (EU) South Korea Spain (EU) Sweden (EU) Switzerland United Kingdom (EU) United States Uruguay Vatican City Venezuela Re: I hold a Schengen Visa from Finland but can i travel to other countries? - PaulWMize - 01-27-2011 it might depend upon your actual citizenship and passport. what country are you a citizen of? it might also depend on where you are currently at. my biggest concern would be if the definition of "the same trip" is important or not - and im not sure. are you still in finland now? are you back in your home country? or are you in another schengen country? or are you elsewhere in the world? im pretty sure, not positive, that if you are already in finland or another shengen country, you might be ok....but if you are outside of shengen, im not sure if the multiple entry visa only applies to finland or if it can be used to enter shengen zone thru other countries. you might be able to, or you might have to re-enter thru finland 1st and then travel within shengen to get to the country you really want. im sure if you look this up with the consulates that this is addressed. or perhaps someone knows from experience, or you might even want to ask this question to a lawyer or consulate just to make sure what is legal, as none of us are going to be able to get you out of a jam if we are wrong on yahoo answers. if you know what country you want to enter, then you should look up online or contact that consulate, and surely these questions will be answered, as each country's consulate would maintain a list and some info of what is required for citizens of your particular country, and for whereever you are. |
