Atheism...? - MaryAWright - 01-27-2011

I asked someone what religion they were, They responded with "Atheism". They proceeded to tell me that they don't belive in god. I got confused there,

So what your saying is, You dont belive in god, but your RELIGION is Atheism?

So my question is, How can your religion be to not have a religion. Maybe this atheist didnt know what the hell he was talking about and someone out there really knows somthing about it.

Atheism does have a belief structure.

There is no god.

Atheism is a term referring to people who don't believe in god (or any religion for that matter). It's not a religion.

Religion is simply belief, not nessacarily the belief of a god. Athieism is a belief, there for is a religion... makes sense yet?

Calm down. The person was just letting you know they don't believe in any god. That's all.

Atheism is not a religion.

I would answer, "What religion are you?" with, "None, I'm an atheist."

Perhaps that particular atheist was just too lazy to preface his answer with, "none".

The answer is that hardly anyone aware of his or her attitude towards religious feelings and thoughts within a routine life. "Atheism" is what they say. But to realize the true absense of any god is a hard work to do. The predominant emptiness of the Universe may serve as a hint.
