What do you do when you lose motivation to study? - Evie98 - 01-27-2011

I've always been a mediocre student but I promised myself that I would work harder and achieve. However I seemed to have lost motivation to study; I'm sloppy and lazy when it comes to school work and I don't feel like putting in effort. I think the issue is I'm under a lot of stress from school and some personal problems. What would you do to gain back the confidence and the drive to perform in school?

i have been setting a timer and making myself study until the timer goes off. then i get up and walk around, take a break, etc. when it's time i set the timer again and refuse to let anything interrupt until the time is up. this seems to help. i am 51 yrs old and just went back to school to finish my 2 yr degree. it is hard but i am determined. i hope other folks can give you more good ideas on here. good luck and continued success in school.

I have the same problem. The best advice I can give you is to keep yourself interested in school. It's easy to get bored and unmotivated with school as the school year goes by, because it's not as exciting as it is at the beginning of the year. Just try to get that excitement back. Try really hard at something, because getting an A is a great feeling, and that could make you want to try harder. If you think it will help, try joining a new club or changing classes or teachers if that's possible.

dude! i can tell you that you are not aloNe.

It happens like you have to study--- you know you must, but you can't. This feeling sux!

What I do when I am in such a state is that I take a break, talk to a friend and see how he is doing with studies. But what really helps me is that I realize my priorities. Hope it helps
