Kosovo's independence...

Car Dušan Wrote:What is it with all of you people:
1. Kosovo is ''home'' to all Serbian people, it is where Serbian Orthodox Church was ''born''!!!

2. Here's an example to all Catholic people who support Kosovo independence:

-What about Muslims from Iraq come and make their new home in Vatican, and in years they become the majority and after that they pronounce independent Muslim Republic of Vatican, and USA supports it. What would you say, how would you feel?
That is the way that Serbs are feeling.

3. Here is an example for all Muslim People out there who support Kosovo independance:

-What about Jews from Israel come and make their new home in Mecca, and in years they become the majority and after that they pronounce independent Jew Republic of Mecca, and USA supports it. What would you say, how would you feel?
That is the way that Serbs are feeling.

You are saying that you beginning was with the orthodox religion and the building of some churches. Our history starts thousands of years before that and before you even came to ballkans. We are not fighting as muslims or christians we are fighting as albanians the right descendants of the Illyrian people.

Dardania(Kosova) is ALbanian.

Prince Lazar Hrebeljanovic and Serbian nobility in the famous battle of Kosovo in 1389 did everything humanly possible to stop the Turkish invasion toward south eastern Europe. It was not only a clash of two armies led by their rulers Serbian prince Lazar and Turkish sultan Murat (who both perished in the battle of Kosovo), but also a clash of two civilizations, one Christian and European and other Islamic and Asiatic. Later on, in Serbian national conscience the battle of Kosovo has acquired mythical dimension of a crucial historical event, greatly affecting the consequence destiny of the whole Serbian nation. The Serbian epic poetry is very rich and the cycle of poems devoted to Kosovo are a pearl of that treasure and moral and psychological support to Serbian people during the centuries of forendous slavery under the Turks till the 19 century, and speaking of Kosovo and Metohia till 1912, when they were finally liberated from the Turks. This is the reason why in Serbian national poetry we find such a great number of representatives of Serbian nobility, of Serbian castles and outstanding Serbian monasteries from Kosovo and Metohia. Prizren, from example, in our national poetry is called the "Serbian Constantinople".The Turkish invasion of south eastern Europe and the Serbian lands as its part, have not only brought about the fall of Christian civilization, but are also responsible for the destruction of all social structures, the elimination of the Serbian elite and the destruction of the most outstanding cultural achievements. One part of Serbian nobility was killed, one part expelled to Asia, one part forced to take up Islam, and one part managed to emigrate north, west and across the Adriatic to Italy.
Until the 18th century, there are no Sqipetars* (now called Albanians) in Kosovo and Metohia in bigger agglomerations. Actually, they began settling in this region in greater numbers only in the 18th and 19th century from today’s northern Albania. In addition to the newly settled Sqipetars (now called Albanians) who were mostly Muslims or converted to Islam soon after settling in Kosovo, it is also the islamization of the Serbs that brought about great changes in the cultural environment of this region. Many of islamized Serbs gradually fused with predominantly Albanian Moslems and adopted their culture and even language. At the beginning of the second half of the 19th century, the Turks also settled Cherkeses in this region.

In the thousand year long-history of Serbs, Kosovo and Metohia were for many centuries the state center and chief religious stronghold, the heartland of their culture and springwell of its historical traditions. For a people who lived longer under foreign rule than in their own state, Kosovo and Metohia are the foundations on which national and state identity were preserved in times of tribulation and founded in times of freedom .
The Serbian national ideology which emerged out of Kosovo's tribulations and Kosovo's suffering (wherein the 1389 St. Vitus Day Battle in Kosovo polje occupies the central place), are the pillars of that grand edifice that constitutes the Serbian national pantheon. When it is said that without Kosovo there can be no Serbia or Serbian nation, it's not only the revived 19th century national romanticism: that implies more than just the territory which is covered with telling monuments of its culture and civilization, more than just a feeling of hard won national and state independence: Kosovo and Metohia are considered the key to the identity of the Serbs. It is no wonder, then, that the many turning-points in Serbian history took place in the and around Kosovo and Metohia.

buried in a mass grave near Batajnica

The grave measured "10 metres by 10 metres" and the first bodies were found at a depth of three metres. The exhumation is being carried out in the presence of the Hague Tribunal investigators.
Minister Mihajlovic said the police had information on the existence of several mass graves with the bodies of the people from the southern Serbian province, adding that it would be better to wait for the end of the investigation to confirm or deny the information on some 800 bodies buried at several locations. This has been the fate of the Albanians and the most people that were around the Serb Nation. I hope you scums are proud of your animal behaviors. I do not think that God and Christ will forgive you for such atrocities toward innocent civilians, who are the original people of Balkan.

Mikahail stop with your BS mythology propaganda, is not going to sell anymore. It was your stupid Serb Prince that betrayed the coalition against the Ottoman empire.

Hollywood actor George Clooney has announced that he and his colleagues will organize a protest rally against the unilateral declaration of Kosovo’s independence.
"I strive to use my popularity to help the mankind, to contribute to solving the number of problems afflicting today's world," he said.
Famous actress Sharon Stone grew up with friends who have a Serbian background, and has said she considers them to be her dearest friends, "like a brother and a sister."
"I am aware of this unjust situation concerning Kosovo, which wants to be an independent state, and it is nearly impossible for me to imagine that happening. That is why we have been thinking about organizing some kind of public protest. We are sorry that the US has no good explanation about what the truth is. The Kosovo lobby is very strong and, unfortunately, America's interests are on their side. We are waiting for the outcome of negotiations and then we will see what can be organized," the Hollywood diva said.

hahahah you serbs are still embarrassing yourselves. This article came out while back, and George Clooney was asked about this, and denied it. You guys are so desperate to sell anything that is not true, just like your history a myth.

True, and they have owned up to what they have done, never tried to hide the fact the atrocities that were done to the Indian people. Whomever is left form the Indian population does not pay any taxes any school fee, etc. What the serbs have done since they came and even to the modern world where things are recorded and shown to them. They still think is ok to kill and massacre people as they want, to fulfill their purposes.

So lets leave history aside for a moment, how can you deprive almost 2 mill people the rights of anything and freedom. And you say that you are a modern western country, how can that happen. Where's your tolerance as a modern and so called Christian state. I'll tell you the way I saw the video after the protests non of them cared about their religion or any thing, some people just hide under a name so to show they are noble. You are noble when you do good by human race, not just for some buildings that you claim you build for that God.

A Russian Moderate?

By Jim Hoagland
Sunday, February 24, 2008; Page B07

Vladimir Putin will offer the next American president a frail olive branch in the person of Dmitry Medvedev next Sunday when Russian voters dutifully go to the polls to ratify Medvedev as Putin's chosen successor.

Leadership changes in Moscow and Washington this year will provide an opening for a halt in the withering erosion of U.S.-Russian relations, as well as in the war of words that the Russian president has been waging against the West. But three things need to happen:

Medvedev must turn out to be the liberal reformer that Putin now allows him to say he is. A new U.S. president will need to quickly return to the cooperative relationship with Russia on nuclear arms reductions and strategic stability that the Bush administration has largely abandoned. Finally, in their twilight months Presidents Bush and Putin will need to manage their tangled relationship with a skill and restraint lacking thus far.

Putin -- who intends to continue wielding power as Medvedev's prime minister after a two-month transition -- is offering only an option, not a commitment, by putting forward the charismatically challenged Medvedev to deal ceremonially with foreign leaders.

Medvedev, 42, has used his position as a Kremlin administrator to win Putin's complete trust, if former KGB officers possess such a thing. When Medvedev visited Washington a few years ago, his reserve and self-effacement made officials here wonder why he had made the trip -- a sentiment I shared after questioning him over the course of a dinner held by the Nixon Center.

But like Claudius under Caligula, or Anwar Sadat under Gamal Abdel Nasser, Medvedev survived by underreaching while others perished by grasping for too much too soon.

As recently as a year ago, Sergei Ivanov, then Putin's defense minister, was the clear front-runner for the presidency. When Putin launched a scathing broadside at Bush at last year's Munich security conference, Ivanov played the contrasting good cop, delivering statesman-like oratory promising global harmony. But his manifest impatience became politically fatal, Russian analysts say.

Putin saved Russian provinces the trouble and expense of having primaries, which were all held in Putin's mind. With his encouragement, Medvedev has given "campaign" speeches that promise respect for the rule of law, more personal freedoms, a much-reduced state role in the economy and cooperation with other countries, including the United States.

Were Medvedev to carry out these promises, he would have to uproot the siloviki, the ex-KGB officers Putin has installed both in the Kremlin and in corporate jobs where they have raked off fortunes. He would also reverse Russia's march away from democracy that has created much of the recent tension between Washington and Moscow.

Putin, of course, may be playing a cynical, short-term game by extending such promises through Medvedev. He is warning the siloviki that they can be tossed to the anti-corruption wolves of public opinion if they ever cross him. Internationally, a more moderate stance by Russia as a new U.S. president is being chosen may be an effort to coax the acknowledgment of Russia's return as a global power that Putin craves.

Some support for this idea comes from Putin's relatively mild public reaction to Kosovo's Feb. 17 declaration of independence and immediate Western recognition of the former Serbian province. Visiting Washington a few days later, Dmitry Peskov, Putin's spokesman, played down Kosovo as a point of U.S.-Russian conflict by saying the United Nations should determine what happens next.

Putin had already signaled that Moscow would swallow Kosovo's independence when he agreed recently to attend a NATO-Russia Council summit in Bucharest. His agreement came after months of strong attacks by Putin on decisions by Romania, a former Soviet satellite, to join the alliance and host U.S. bases.

Some of you may not know:

In the Second World War, from years 1941-45, in Jasenovac, today Croatia, there was a massive killing camp.

The camp was made for killing everything that is not Croatian, in that time Ustash.
Therefor the people killed were:
1.Serbs
2.Romas/Gypies
3.Jews
4.Other not Croatian or Croatian, wich didn't think the way Ustash did.

The Camp was lead by Vjekoslav Luburić - Maks and Ante Pavelić, who was the Leader of Independent Country of Croatia, wich was Nazi oriented.
Other people in the camp were Bosniaks, Bulgarian and even some of them were Albanian.

The Final Number Of Killed people Was around
700,000 from that

500,000 Serbs

Thaçi in particular is seen as being central to the criminal activites of the Kosovo Protection Force, who were reportedly extorting money from businessmen under the guise of "taxes" for Thaçi's self appointed government. The fact that the Democratic Party of Kosovo was seen as both corrupt and criminal lead directly to the electoral defeat of the DPK in the first free elections in the province in 2001. The BBC stated at the time, " The tumbling reputation of the former KLA was to have a disastrous effect on the PDK because of the perceived overlap between its political leadership and post-KLA organised crime." Thaçi is reputed to control up to fifteen percent of the smuggling of arms, stolen cars, oil and prostitution in Kosovo, and to maintain connections with foreign mafia organizations.
