Georgia and South Ossetia at war
I couldn't resist not to write the 2000th post on this topic. A real hot topic!

A really nice forum for Parisians

Confuseduper Good to you. I'll wait to write the 2008th Confuseduper

Today, Medvedev officially blamed USA for importing military arsenal into Georgia, hidden as aid. I wonder what Bush is going to tell about that.

Blaming other part in the same action that you are doing is just a joke! Anyone can tell me from where has the S.Osetia the guns, tanks and other military equipments..It was Russianns "humanitarian" aid to the "brother nation" ...
So, one brother helps another but without blaming the third one....

My friend! If you mean by that sayng the brotherhood beetwen USA and Georgia - you making immature conclusions. USA just using Georgia and if Russia will make some serious trouble for USA in carribean area - USA will dump Georgia for the deal with Russia do not escalate things in carribean. Dont be naive - there is no brotherhood in big politic.

You are right! There is no friendship in big politics but does not it means that Russia is no friend for S.Osetia and Abkhazia...The politics of using neighbor small country is not uncommon for Russia (not for U.S.A either). So, the only right outcome from this is that not to trust "OTHER COUNTRY" but to try and be a friend for your own one...

Quote:There is no friendship in big politics but does not it means that Russia is no friend for S.Osetia and Abkhazia...

You got it right! There is only geopolitic. Nothing personal.

The pytiest thing is that guilty countries still postpone to realize their fault. The USA and Georgia. Why does America give "humanitarian" aid only to Georgia? What about Ossetia? If all the world don't recognize the suverenity of Ossetia and Abkazia, why they don't supplied these "Georgian "republics with "humanitarian" aid? Or they simply forgot about them? But maybe just closed their eyes?

The U.S A helps Georgia . You are right, but you dont think that with the helping Georgia the U.S A helps S.Osetia too, because S.Osetia WAS, IS AND WILL BE THE part of GEORGIA!
So, we only have to thank the U.S A for helping the poor people from the S.Osetia livinh in Tbilisi and other regions of Georgia, because the refugees have no nationalities.we dont count how many georgian and how many osetian is recieving the humanitarian aid from our friend countries, we just support them with food and everything that is necessary for them.
and one more - we never refused to recieve the humanitarian aid from other countries too. SO, you can take this into considaration...

iako, are you Georgian? if yes, I'd like to thank you for you polite discussing in differ another Georgians writing there. I have a question to you: do you know that Russia gave humanitarian aid to Ossetia? What do you think about that? And another question: do you know that over 30000 Ossetians run out to Russia (our hospitals, shoolls acept thousands of refugeers)? If Russia is agressor why Ossetian people didn't ran out to Tbilisi??

I totally agree with you. Where from did those tanks, machine guns, and all the soldiers appear all over a sudden? :bobo

I want to answer to Ann if I may Smile Ann I am ex-soviet citizen, I was born in Soviet Union and know a lot about
how autonomy was assigned and how republics were managed. The problem with S. Osetia is that it does not have 100% Osetian or Georgian population. What do you do when one village wants to be a part of Russia and another part of Georgia? I am sure there are lots of Osetian refugees in Russia but I am also sure that many Georgian refugees went to Georgia. Of course Russia is not aggressor for Osetians but same you could argue about Georgia. In my opinion we should let Georgians and Osetians talk with each other without interference of third party (Russia, US, does not matter) otherwise there will never be peace.

i will try to answer your questions Ann..
Yes, I am from Georgia and i think that we all are here to express our opinions and not for insulting other people with different point of views.
About humanitarian aid- it is realy good if Russia did so, because for refugeers it means a lot, they dont think about the deliver of this aid they just are in need of it and for them the "American bread" and "Russian bread" is just a MEAL.
Ann, did you know how many Ossetians are in Tbilisi? I live in Tbilisi and in the school near my house are Osetian refugeers too and it is no surprise, because we dont think that we should divide them between Georgiand and Osetians, they all are our refugeers and we should take care of them and one more issue, perhaps you dont know that the big part of people in S.Osetia are Georgians and Osetians and there are a big number of mixed families where mother is Georgian and father Osetian and it was vey usual thing and we managed to live in peace during a big historical period, untill the third part show its worth.
So, finally let me make a declaration of one thing- we, Georgians suffer not because of land of S.Osetia, but also for people living there because S.OSetia was is and will be part of Georgia.

Look i see your point and there is only one question, why did georgians used force to take control over S Osetia?
I heard many answers and they are like: Russians attacked first. We tried to defend our citizens against criminals sponsored by Russia. Russia ordered criminals (separatists armed, motivated, trained and only they can say what else by Russia) to attack georgian willages to provoke response and justify invasion)
Parhaps you have different opinion?

SId
I dont know who started first attack or bombing but it was wrong move. No matter it was Georgian or Russia. It was wrong decission!!!
and about your question- well, we have the conflict with two side- Gerogia and Russia (Osetia). If one side makes a decision to used force in solving the problem, the other side has no choice, it has to play with the same rules. So, the same Bermudan traingle- who started the war?

Who starts war that he cant win? Who is moving toward conflict instead of searching peacefull solution?
Sides can negotiete, but when one side constantly makes hostile moves other side will consider the same.
So if one side is weaker its better to find ways out of situation not continue with hostilities or even worse to proceed with military action.

Russia was involved? I dont think so, the August showed that Russia is not only involved but is the second part of the conflict and more stronger than Georgia... Confusedweat

And S Osetians are just our private thugs i presume? Look Russia was involved and there was no secret that Russia can not not to get involved having peacekeepers ther.

I would say it's something in the middle. Russia is the second party as well as the third. It is the third since its citizens (living in south Ossetia) are Russians, it is the second because, actually, South Ossetia, as a state, hadn't existed at that moment.

EDISAN Wrote:Russia the rights because Georgia attack South Ossetia and killed the Russian peacekeepers

This is not Georgia and South Ossetia war, This is Georgia-Russian conflict and Russian are not able to be peacekeepers fact, Russia is responsible for the crisis from 1990s.

I suppose we had NO problems in 90s and had nothing better to do but to spark conflict near our border?
Do not be so quick about sides. there were georgian peacekeepers too.

Girogi, if you are sure that it is not Georgia-Ossetian conflict but Georgia-Russian, in this case I can approve that it is war between Russia and the USA. Who did supply Georgia whith guns, tools and trained soldiers? Americans! And you can't deny this fact, because the world Mass media is already writing about this, including New-York Times. Notice, American press! I guess you believe them better than Russian. And please, don't be primitive and don't write THERE that Russians payed for this information and this is not truth. The truth is the one! And soon you'll learn it.
P.S. Yeah, our soldiers killed georgian, but AFTER YOU ATTACK OUR PEACEKEEPERS AT NIGHT 8th AUGUST!!!
