My opinion is that nowadays the worldwide media has reached such an altitude and a level of development, that it has the power to manipulate our opinion and even create false images of our real life. This is why many politicians cannot help themselves of editing a newspaper, or owns a TV channel.

The even worst thing is when the Medias are controlled by the Government, which the government will give the threatens to the medias and decided which news they should be published and which news should be keeping in the confidential files...

Media really affects our minds and it can not be fully objective, however, if you have information from different sources, you can at least come to conclusion what is going on in reality. The problem in reality is that this assess to information is very limited and is often blocked by governments of different countries including Russia and Georgia.

Please, Do not compare Georgian and Russian TVs... I have possibility to watch Georgian, Russian and Western, Asian TVs... And trust me what Russian TVs are telling is totally different from others... This is russia where journalists are still killed, This is russia where Government tries to control everything... Lately Georgian Government also tried to follow russian example, but the attempt was condemned by Georgian population by huge demonstrations... Yes I admit that Georgian TVs are far away from optimal version, but comparing them to Russian ones is not adequate....

Its not about Georgian TV vs. Russian. I am sure that during the war in particular, every government will try to limit information which is against its ideology and it is Ok. However, there must be some other way to get as much information as possible from internet or from other sources and than we will have possibility to make up our mind what is going on.

actually, I avoid listening anybody's opinion, I only pay attention to facts. The latter help me form an independent opinion. Thus, I'm never manipulated by any media.

When you are a non-government member of the society, it is hard to define "facts" in such situation as wars.

On the contrary - being a politician will make you be subjective towards a certain issue.

I find war of information very dangerous, that's why I hope people don't trust each source they read or watch. It's better to draw conclusions only basing on the facts you saw or heard from your friends/relatives.

I don't know about putin/medvedev but I am sure i will never take the declarations of georgian president seriously, how can a man be considered if he tells lies on air not only to his people but to the whole world? The links to the video posted at the beginnig of this topic demonstrate it well. That's a pity that many world media repeated that lie whithout checking the facts. Though it shows that many media are not independent, they show what they are told to show to influence population opinion.

I don't think the lie from mass media's part has ever reached the lines it reached in this war.
