Warning, the internet is "infected" with two great diseases: facebook.com and odnoklassniki.ru . This disease is very contagious and once you've been infected, it's almost impossible to be healed.
OK, I am certainly not talking about physical sickness. I'm talking about two websites that, actually, became the second world for many. People forget about their real life and kill their time on these websites. That's why I call it a psychological disease. Dependent people should be treated by psychologists.
I don't know what attracts people here, it's just interesting to stay and turn over pages with new and new faces.
Beware, if you register there, be ready to spend most of your time there.
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

Oh yes Benn, I know it. And what is really interesting, is that this is only the beginning. Tens of similar websites are being designed everyday. If these sites will be promoted in the same way as facebook and odnoklassniki, the world risks to become a virtual one.

Just imagine the database available on these websites. Our information is unsecured. You might not even know about it, but your friends can place pictures of yours, add some comments that could affect your personality.

Did you know that facebook reserves the right to leave data about the user even if he deleted the profile. Most users don't know that.

Facebook and Odnoklassniki are interesting only because they are popular and one can really find his friends there.

I think that World of Warcraft is much worse. I really know people that lost their jobs or didn't pass the exams because they couldn't stop playing wow. Which is sad in a way... because WOW is a great game

I haven't ever played the world of warcraft, but I believe you are talking about the game where you have to buy different suits for players, right?

I'm not sure, but I think it's yes. I heard of wow (world of worldcraft) gold. Many forums are spammed with links to websites where they offer this gold. No matter how good the game is, I think it's crazy.

Did you know that facebook implies about 175 millions of users. This number is three times bigger than the entire population of France.

odnoklassniki is not far from this. It counts over 22 million users. It just needs time and facebook will be left. Its disadvantage is that the site is only in Russian.

Odnoklassniki makes good money. It has a system for putting marks to photos. The maximal mark is 5, if you wish you may put 5+, but it will cost you about $5.

Much information is being disclosed on these websites. You might be on a photo of your friend and you don't even know that. Couples break down because one of them is jealous because his/her partner makes a lot of "friends" on these sites.

Did you know that Facebook has the right to change the conditions on the site whenever they want. Here's what they say:
Quote:We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to change, modify, add, or delete portions of these Terms of Use at any time without further notice.
so you may be using facebook and don't even know about the new terms they propose.

Who knows, maybe these websites are managed by people who are very powerful, somebody from the rows of politicians, world leaders, just in order to collect as much information as possible.

I'm sick of facebook! It swallows my time as no occupation ever did it before. I am telling myself to enter the site just for five minutes, but it's so contagious - I leave it in 2 hours... :-(

What can I say Helen, if you're nature is weak, delete your profiles, otherwise it could really become a problem for you. You'll get more and more addicted. Just imagine how many useful and concrete things might be done by you instead of just wasting time for watching photos and playing games on facebook

I also see a good part of these sites. Sometimes the fate spreads people worldwide, so that they can never find each other, while these sites help you do that. You can find people you've never expected you would. It generates friendship, why not.

Agree Benn. But somehow people used to live without these sites before. Now true friends become just persons you know, because you can chat to him anytime on the web. It's not interesting. And what will you talk about with your friends when you meet in real life? Nothing. Because you already know everything.

You must be careful what you post on Facebook. Your employer can monitor what you write: people have lost their jobs for posting comments that their employer didn't like. One girl was fired for calling her job "boring" on facebook, and it wasn't even a public comment hock:

wow, Becka, is that so? I'm more and more surprised of this website... Those who are higher in hierarchy only win. But I think there's still one obvious advantage here: the Interpol and the police are using this site for retrieving information about possible criminals.

don't take that too seriously. As for that girl who was fired, I think she could easily start a lawsuit against her employee, because this is only a personal opinion and nothing more. Everybody is, in some way, bored with his/her work.

I don't like facebook. I mean where are the old times?... when people haven't been seeing each other for years, and then meet by accident somewhere in a cafe. I call that nostalgia, that's the taste of life. But now everybody are united and they don't understand what it really means to miss somebody.

These socialization websites were made for making people closer to each other. But what they do, is simply distancing people far far away. People begin to lose the touch, they lose the skill of live communication.

myspace is also a site that eats a lot of time. I would say that the internet might become a serious reasons for firing the staff. For example, secretaries, managers etc. who chat during the worktime instead of conducting their duties.

I should tell you that socialization sites are dangerous. Different provocators can easily initiate a movement, a strink agaisnt or for something. For example now, in Moldova many students are called to demonstrations via Odnoklassniki
