The mobile phone market will soon experience something which nobody has ever seen before. New smart phones, on Qualcomm Snapdragon processor basis, will hit store shelves. These processors will have a 1Ghz processor capacity. This is equal to what we used to call a full value computer a couple of years ago. Such companies as Samsung, Acer, Asus, LG and Toshiba have already sighed agreement to use this processor. HTC will use its own processor - Intel Atom, and will be the main competitor for Qualcomm Snapdragon.
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

Hm... It's interesting which processor is more powerful Intel Atom or Qualcomm Snapdragon?

The key difference between Snapdragon and Atom is power and integration. Qualcomm--because of its background in the cell phone market where integration and low-power are the name of the game--has packed a lot of features onto one piece of silicon that is short on power consumption and long on battery life.

Snapdragon operates below 0.5 watts, which will probably be a good advantage for battery life.

I can't believe the difference is so obvious. Especially I didn't expect this from HTC TYTN II, which I know is a great phone and, though old, is very popular even now.

yes, I'm shocked either hock:
I know many PDAs, but I've never heard of MWg ATOM V. I now searched it on ebay. There are only a few listings. The average price is 300 bucks.

Besides, and this MWg ATOM V has a processor of only 400 Mhz. Can you imagine how fast it will run movies when it will be updated to 1 Ghz?

see this beauty - it's a Toshiba phone, which will soon be released. The processor is qualcomm. The phone is only 9.9mm thick, it uses a 4.1-inch WVGA 800 x 480 384k pixel resistive touch screen and comes with support for 3G HSPA, Wi-Fi, GPS and assisted-GPS

wow Steven, you really surprised me. I think it's something very special. Toshiba never produced phones before. It produces good notebooks, so I think it's gonna be closer to a PC rather than to a phone. uper great work

Terry, actually Toshiba did produce Pocket PCs. I saw one as far back as 2006. Honestly, I remember it looked really boring and nothing special. Toshiba is not specialized in producing professional Pocket PCs, that's why it's for novices.

who would need these phones anyways? My laptop's processor is 1.5 dual and I feel it's enough, and don't even use it at full capacity. And why would a phone need that strength? For playing FIFA 2008?
Still, if the dimensions are kept small, it's gonna have demand.

this phone's display is very big and qualitative. Toshiba representatives said they "invested in the display all successes they had in the field of television." The disadvantage is that, even though the processor is strong, the device will use Windows Mobile 6.1, however it would be much better newest version 6.5.
