Is there water on Mars?

Last month, it was announced that in the few days after the landing of the Phoenix lander in May 2008, the camera attached to the robotic arm captured visual evidence of what appeared to be droplets of water, almost like condensation forming on the leg of the lander.


The series of black and white images appear to show droplets of water hanging off the robot's bodywork in the shade; it seems possible that the water droplets were splashed from the surface during Phoenix's rocket-assisted landing. Far from being static blobs, they appear to grow, much like water droplets here on Earth as water vapor is absorbed from the atmosphere.

One of the key components necessary for the survival of life on Earth is water, especially when the water is in a liquid state. This is an easy proposition on our planet, as the atmospheric pressures and temperatures are just right for the majority of water on Earth to be in a usable liquid state. Should liquid water be discovered on another planet however, where the conditions are often too hot or too cold for water to be found in a liquid state, you'd expect there to be some excitement...

Maybe it's the Phoenix itself which changed water on Mars from hard condition into liquid condition. I mean imagine this lander landing with its extremely high temperatures on Mars. This heat could melt water ices and change it into liquid water

I never believed that content of water on other planets necessarily means life on those planets. But there are so many elements left, like air, temperature, gravity etc. And maybe aliens don't even need water to survive.

Did you know that the presence of ice on Mars was discovered as far back as 1666, when the planet’s polar caps were first seen. But, now it was discovered that the low temperatures and air pressure there mean that water, even if heavily salted, is likely either to freeze or to evaporate.

It's very strange, there is water on Mars, and nobody lives there? Or may be they are just hiding from humans, because they know about our heroic spirit of war that we can declare them war after watch a film about their invasion :lol:

If are clear evidence that water exists on Mars, then what kind of questions can be?

Oh, it so good that water precisely exists on Mars's surface. I think it is a good start of other discoveries.
