So many vegetarians fight against people who eat meat ... However, if it is so bad as they say. why people continue to eat meat? why they do not try to convince that this is more healthy way of life but focuses on the fact that we eat animals which have soul and is not right to kill them?
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

I think that people who meddle with the protests don't have what to do at home. Each choose how to live and what to eat. and nobody should judge what is best for another time so as is not doctor.

People who protest are likely to become vegetarians because they are against killing animals. But actually to become vegetarian is a lifestyle that should not be mixed to others. So vegetarians should prouve that is better to live like they do and not to protest. like I said everybody is in right to choose how to live

I belong to a slimming club where eating more vegetables and vegetarian alternatives to meat is encouraged. I know that my club has many members who are not vegetarian, but regularly eat Quorn and soy because they are good low-fat protein sources. Those that do eat meat eat smaller portions of lean meat, with more vegetables and cereals.

BB,
as always you bring your moderate and rational views to the conversation. But there are those who always opt for the radical extremism of whatever ideology (or religion) they just converted to and want to dominate the conversation. Vegans are are a great example. I find them to be extremely judgmental and rude. I cannot count the times I was "admonished" in public by self righteous vegans to "stop killing animals" for my "selfish" need for protein. As for those who point out fruits and vegetable as the only alternative for weight loss, I'd like to point out that hippos, rhinos and elephants are vegetarian while slick panthers, tigers, pumas, etc are......

If you eat meat, you kill an animal or two. If you are a vegeterian, you destroy habitats of many species to cultivate crops. Eco-wise, eating meat sounds like a better option to me. ;-)

FreeThinker,
an excellent point. However, one must exercise moderation in all things - including the preoccupation with eco-wise thinking. Thus, what would make the most sense for extreme eco-activists would be cannibalism hock: ... err... thanks but no thanks.

But this is not the discussion theme, every man choose what way of life to take. We don't born vegetarian, we became vegetarians by the own decision.
Yes I agree that animals are also creatures in a way, but this is the law of nature. And the animals eat each other. But that does not mean that carnivores are worse than ierbivores and vice versa.
Why should yell in her mouth that are vegetariens.. ? The animals doesn't do that! But People do it. These animals are bred for this purpose... to be eating. We do not go out hunting them and we do not bring any endangered to species. Must not confuse vegetarianism with killing animals for fur, bones, skin etc.

Cannibalism would also keep human population in check ... joking
If we do a quick recap of the human past, humans began their journey just like any other species on the planet during the first stages of human evolution. Eventually, we seemed to believe that it's alright to manipulate our environment to suit our wants. Cultivating crops is a brilliant idea but we haven't given it a good thought about what it could do if done in a large scale for decades. I live in a country that lost 80% of its forests in two decades to agriculture and industrialisation. Now we talk about effects like gobal warming (at least it's good that some of us are talking about it). But imagine if we never had any crops and we survived by hunting or herding animals, would we not be living in a better environment than now? (may be with more forests and lesser human population)

Moreover, there isn't much difference health-wise in being a vegeterian as many vegeterians advocate. I lived as a normal human (lol, i mean not a vegeterian and ate what humans normally eat) for about 20 years and as a vegeterian for next 10 years and I hardly noticed any difference in my health. Our health doesn't completely depend on what we eat. It also depends on what we do besides eating.

I said we "destroy habitats of many species". I didn't say we "eat" endangered species!

What do you mean by saying that we "destroy habitats of many species"? I do not understood your point of view.

A quick note on farming: farming livestock usually requires more land and causes more pollution that agriculture. The Vegetarian Society was originally formed to help the UK become self-sufficient, not because of any ethical concerns. Think of the huge swathes of Amazonian rainforest being cut down to build cattle ranches. Also, cattle contribute significantly to total greenhouse gas emmissions! hock: The answer seems clear: if you eat meat, go out and catch it yourself!

Hmm, I think there are always zealots - it is a fine line between wanting to share what you believe, and harassing others :-) It's the same with religions...

I do not think it possible. It's inhuman, it's off of any limits and understanding. These people should be fed up with those products until will reach to hospital with poisoning.

I think that vegetarians and vegans have a point in protecting animals from humans.
With all the consumerism around and people living in cities quite far from nature, few of us realize where meat really comes from with all the nice packages in the supermarket.. Many people have seen animals they eat only on TV in the advertisings by the meat and diary producers.
Finally imagine you are walking near a crime scene where you are seeing a couple of gangsters raping a girl for example. Will you say to yourself "Well it's their lifestyle let them do what they like. I have my lifestyle that is different and they have their lifestyle so I have no right to intervene." Hell no! You will be running to call the police, because otherwise you are an accomplice. And if there is no police or phone nearby a brave man will fucking grab something heavy and go fight the bastards.
Now all the "extremist" vegetarians have become aware of a crime done by our human fellows so just being silent is being an accomplice.
If during our history there were no such men as the "extremist" vegetarians people would still think that Slavery is ok because "well they are born to be slaves, they have no intelligence to be free", that beating the hell out of your wife is ok because "it's my family", that exploiting children and beating them is also ok because "it's my child, I am growing him" and so on.
There were always people like those that had slaves that were thinking "what the fuck you have with my lifestyle, you don't want to have slaves don't keep them, just leave me alone".
And saying that eating meat is more ecological is what prove how ignorant are people these days.
Just watch the movie Home to open your eyes a bit.

The youtube version of Home needs some kind of invitation so you can download it from the pirate bay in HD quality:
http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4959086/...dom-Releas
You can watch it in other languages on YouTube though.
Here I found another movie on the topic called: Earthlings
[flash=425,344]http://www.youtube.com/v/nkLt88_u5lQ&hl=en&fs=1&[/flash]
You can watch it on YouTube in a higher quality.

Vegetarians who exclude eating any animal product (meat, milk, eggs, cheese, honey) are called vegans or vegetarians pure / strict, although some reserve this term only if even those who avoid wearing clothes from animal products (leather, fur, silk, wool).Vegans do not buy cosmetics containing ingredients tested on animals. An animal product, in this context refers to any part of the body of an animal or any substance derived from that body. Some vegans avoid using animals as food, but agrees to wear clothes made of materials from animal products. They are called "dietary vegans".
So not all are against....
