Irrepressible Basques keep Spain in fear
#1
Hi, all! I live in Spain and I’m full of scurvy tricks of Basques. The supporters of the Great Basque Country’s separation from Spain (to be merged with the Basque-populated part of France) go over the line. Let me note that Basques’ separatist organization ETA (en . wikipedia . org/wiki/ETA) was set up in 1959 as an anti-Franco party. Francisco Franco has long been dead and the Basques’ Country has already received so desired autonomous status, well, but this doesn’t prevent the Basque terrorists from fighting. Now they want to separate from Spain. Wild Basques, being infused with the recognition of Kosovo’s independence, have finally lost their fear. They have taken their arms once again. And now the main aim of their terrorist attack becomes representatives of our law-enforcement agencies. On June 19 the head of a Spanish anti-terrorist unit, Eduardo Puelles Garcia, has been murdered in an ETA car-bomb attack in Arrigarriga, near Bilbao (timesonline . co . uk/tol/news/world/europe/article6534963.ece). Then on July 29 a powerful car bomb destroyed police barracks, where officers and their families are housing. More than 60 people have been injured (calgarysun . com/news/world/2009/07/29/10306206.html). To make this long story short, I want to say that such terrorist actions of a small gang of Basques may lead to a split of Spain. France is in the waiting list. Regretfully, but it is really so. While European leaders seem to be preoccupied with the integration processes, separatism in the Western Europe is growing.

It's not ok living with the fear of being attacked unexpectedly by terrorists... Tell me please, are you, as a citizen of Spain ready to let the Basque Country go in exchange for peace in Spain? This is the only solution I see, are there other?
