Consequences of smoking
#51
yes Helen, be careful. I can't remember the last time I was dating with a girl that doesn't smoke. They now smoke even more than men do.
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

girls smoke just because they wanna look elder and smarter, but, it's common for youth. Though, women also smoke, and they smoke because they were to curious when they were young. Now women can't give up smoking.

In fact girls are usually smoking for one reason more: to be skinny. Have you noticed that most, not all, but almost all women that are smoking are more skinny than the regular ones?

I do agree with Hakan. BTW, did somebody notice that people, which are smoking, have a more dark skin - brown like tobacco? :-)

hey, stop it. You wanna say the more a girl smokes the skinnier she gets? Give me a break! Is there a scientific explanation for that?

If you want to have the bad breath, yellowish teeth and have the chances of getting assorted types of cancers, then feel free to smoke with the rest of your life...lol

actually I'm also interested in this kind of information. Is it true that smokers are skinny?

This is totally true! Here is an article published first by Reuters: http://www.healthcentral.com/heart-dise ... 35-66.html
It says that the tendency – of losing weight by smokers versus non smokers is quite evident. And it applies to the opposite situation too: when smokers quit smoking they gain weight.
But this rule is followed by another, when a smoker looses weight he gains even more chances to develop lung cancer, the opposite being true as well…
So,
May girls would like to look thinner, but doing so by smoking and increasing the number of diseases, among which is cancer, is not the proper solution.

Thanks for the infomation, it's very interesting. I think many women in the world, if they read this article, would start smoking, not paying attention to the second conseqence you menitoned, Karl.

I have thought this for a long time. In my family, the women who do not smoke are mostly morbidly obese, while the women who do smoke are thin and relatively healthy  Maybe someone should investigate giving nicotine patches to fat girls?

that would be a cruel experiment, but still interesting.

Becka, you said you're from UK, so, as far as I know British scientists spend a lot of money for carrying out such experiments. Why don't you suggest them do that? Just joking Smile
I think such an experiment already was conducted. I mean even you prove the fact by the example with your family!

:haha :haha :haha It's true - the funniest one I heard was a few years ago - a team of PhD Students at Cambridge had studied which biscuit was best for dunking in your cup of tea... [IIRC Digestives were the best]. Yes, perhaps I shall quit my job and do a PhD, whilst losing weight :haha

It really sounds funny, Becka. But, don't you think that some day such experiments, that at first sight look stupid, may help people and make their lives easier? I mean you can't make a big progress in one big step; a progress consists of many small paces.

For a girl it's really important not to smoke, in order to maintain the health of her future child in normal condition. Also, she should keep away from passive smoking.
