or passionate, in a non-horny sort of way.
I try to care, like other people do,
but almost everything in politics is so much bigger then me.

Politics are very personal, they affect our lives, how we live, pay taxes, get our representation, affect our freedoms, liberties..they are really in our life fabric.
Sooo when people develop a certain political outlook, they take it as the ONLY one that is right and correct. When someone challenges that thought, they become angry because they feel they are personally being assaulted. Also, they feel that if they can't get another person to agree with them, they are the enemy, trying to take away freedoms, or give too much,j or force religion on us, or force communism on us. Most people don't truly understand politics, even some on the hill don't know what's happening, however they know that decisions made in the houses of the sons of the republic affect their very lives, and they get really upset when things don't go their way.

The same reason people are vehement about their religious beliefs.
Your political beliefs go (or should go, I should say) to the core of your beliefs about how the world should be run; your philosophies, morals, etc.
Additionally, opposing points of view becoming the majority in politics could mean that you are 'forced' to live differently from how you believe you should live.

Its not politics that makes them angry. It's how they were raised by their parents and other influences from their environment that make them go so crazy.
Republicans tend to be more fired up, generally speaking because they feel like America is changing too rapidly. Democrats tend to be more quiet about politics and nicer.

Massive disinformation driving mislead opinions leads to frustration. Furthermore, people refuse to hear opposing views.
You'd think explaining it would solve the problem, but some Democrat, can't remember who, said it best: "If you have to explain your argument, you're losing the argument".

The same thing that is about religion that makes people get so angry. Nobody can agree on which one is the perfect and correct "formula". Everyone think they are right and what they stand for is correct. Sorry the only thing that is neutral in this world is math, even scientists debate themselves passionately all the time. Math on the contrary is just what it is 2+2 = 4, no matter where you are at or who you are.
