How do I find the motivation to do my home learning course?
#1
I enrolled on a home learning course about 18 months ago and am finding it very difficult to find the motivation to do it. I can see now why it's better to go to college. I do really want to do it, and it's handy to be able to do it whenever I can, but there's just always something else to do around the house.

I teach homeschooling to my child & I had the same problem.
Do it as if it is the best job you ever had, because it is, you pick the hours & the days, but once you pick, do it.
It could turn out to be the best paying job you will ever have.
If you cannot do it then you need to let someone else take over for you.
But think about it this way also, if you cannot do this one thing by your own direction, why would anyone else hire you as anything more than a worker that needs supervision.

Make yourself a daily and weekly timetable.
Decide to start every day at a certain time - eg 8.30am, and do a certain number of hours - eg 3 hours per day.
That way you finish at 11.30 and the rest of the day is yours.
I homeschool my son who is nearly ten, and believe me, if left to himself he would do NOTHING, but we do 8.30 every morning, without fail and finish about lunchtime, then do stuff like dog walking, bike riding, going to the beach, horse riding, games, reading, dvd if it's raining, cooking, cleaning(me, not him!), building stuff in lego, drawing, etc.
He's rather reluctantly doing prime factors right by my side as I write this! But he is way ahead of where he would be in regular school. Getting 100% in eleven year old Sats maths papers already.
So it is well worth it.
Best of luck

Go and find a library to do your work in - that way you won't be distracted and hopefully you will have all the materials you need to hand. I did a post graduate course like this and it really does help to keep focussed. Also work out a timetable so that you can see your dealines and allow enough time for preparation.
