So, I bought World of Warcraft because my Xbox 360 got the Red Ring of Death and I had heard how amazing it is. But, now after having bought WoW and the first expansion, the Burning Crusade, I find out that the upcoming third expansion, Cataclysm, is going to drastically change the game. Is this going to suck for new players like myself?

You still have time to make it
There is a lot of fun for low levels...
And if 2 new races will come up a lot of folks will be low leveled

I just started playing wow, and i quit. You cannot buy anything or do anything without a lvl 80 character with like billions of gold. It plain sucks being new

Actually it's going to make it WAY easier.
A lot of terms in the game right now you only really learn as a crash course when you hit max level such as not standing in fire, or using "line of sight", or "tank switching" or "aggro" are given the low levels in Cataclysm.
For instance, there's a goblin quest in the new goblin stating zone (at around lvl 10) where you learn about line of sight. The game will tell you to run behind a rock to hide from a monster's breath attack - if you don't it'll really hurt you. If you do, you live.
This sort of thing you would never learn about until you hit max level before. This meant that players who knew about it would get really upset with players who didn't. Now it will be easier on everyone because 2000 of the new quests have "training moments" like that to help you out and help you become a better player.

I wouldn't say it's going to suck. They designed the layouts of the changed zones to have more of a leveling flow to them so that your not constantly bouncing across the continents to get into a zone your level. It's going to be a drastically different experience than what lowbies are experiencing now but I think it's a change for the best.

You'll be fine. depending on how much time you spend playing every day. you can get an 80 before cataclysm comes out. but even if you don't there is plenty of stuff for you to do. I wouldn't say it would suck for new players coming in now. plus some zones are going to be changed so. you'll have just about as much experience as anyone else (not considering the beta players)

Sorry to hear about the red ring of death. That is my reason for not owning a 360.
To answer your question though, NO! It will not make it suck. It will actually make it better. Everything is being revamped to make it more interesting. I'm looking forward to making a new Worgen or Goblin character. Leveling is a little easier now as compared to when I started. Just enjoy playing and do not worry about Cataclysm yet. There is still no official release date for it, at least that I have heard. Wait to buy Wrath of the Lich King though because it will go down in price when Cat comes out.

No, it's not going to suck. It will even make things easier for new players. Yay! I can't wait for Cataclysm. For the horde!
