May peace be upon you…..In a dream, the king of Egypt saw seven very weak cows ate seven healthy and strong cows. The king also saw seven green ears of corn and seven corns with hardly any corn on them. He could not get the message. His court chiefs said these were confused dreams and they did not know the interpretations of confused dreams…..If human had invented this dream, he should have thought of strong cows eating weak cows.
But when Joseph (on him be peace), a Prophet of Allah was asked, he interpreted the dream that seven years of abundant crops will come and these years will be followed by seven lean years with drought. He told the envoy to tell the king to save from seven good years for seven lean years.
This dream of king and the correct interpretation by Prophet Joseph served many purposes. New agro-economic knowledge emerged, country was saved and Hadhrat Joseph (a.s.) received indenpence honourably with exaltations for him and his family. The king’s dream proved the truthfulness of the dream which Prophet Joseph’s saw when he was child. ( plz see Surah Yusuf i.e. 12 th chapter, Quran section, w.alislam.org)
Dreams are of three major types, as one understands. A kind is reflection of inner desires of self which turns into dream. Another kind is satanic, these are horror dreams. Third type of dreams carry message from Merciful God; such dreams make very special impact on heart and mind. Faculty of seeing true dreams is embodied in human so that they have some personal experience that God communicates.
Dreams of pious persons are pure as their life is pure. As the purity of heart increase, quality of dreams increases. Purest dreams of purest people i.e. dreams of Prophets are revelations from Almighty God. Prophets are envoys of God, they come with various accompanied divine testimonies. Among these signs is descending of heavenly spiritual light upon able hearts in the form of very pure and true dreams and revelations in which divine truths are revealed to the seeker.
