their way of life is disgusting. And, one more thing, why are they all wearing Christian icons or crosses, are all Gypsies Christians?

The gypsies borrow the religion, the language and customs from each adoptive country they are living; they are Christians and Muslims also (in Albania, Turkey) and their way of life is disgusting because they display their opulence and prosperity.
Why this rich gypsy doesn’t help the poor gypsies instead of buying luxurious things? :fi

It's because the rich Gypsies are leaders. They don't have such an idea like "democracy". Those who are rich have the power, and the rest are afraid of them Confusedweat

Gypsies are greedy and the rich ones will never share the goods they have with somebody else. This is also a reason for their development stagnation.

perhaps, they are living only in present, no future, no past...spending a lot of money very fast. Smile

oh but no! They are living with the past. Otherwise they wouldn't carry their traditions from one country to another.

Clearman how do you think the situation could change in the following 15 years. Would Gypsies become a more civilized nation?

No. We have already about 12 millions of gypsies in entire Europe. In the following 15 years they must be 15-20 millions....So, enjoy their music and free style of living. :banghead

Fortunately, Romania is in Eastern Europe and, thereby the citizens from western Europe still have time to breathe until Gypsies emigrate with crowds in their countries!

You're being ignorant!!! Do you know ANYTHING about Romania? Their culture? Their history? Their lifestyle? Did you know that an average Romanian speaks at least 3 languages? How many do you speak?

Check out a Romanian rap song. There are English subtitles!

There is diaspora of Gypsies in Georgia too. We are traing to integrate them in society. It is quite difficult, but they are very specific and interesting people. We have some problems with them, but mostly they are quite friendly.

Romanians have LOTS of problems with them. They usually get confused with gypsies because sometimes Westerns can be ignorant. In Romania gypsies are not that friendly they continuously cause problems because they can't integrate and are mainly thieves, criminals or beggars.
There are of course gypsies that are respected. Most of them are artist. Gypsies are famous for their music that influenced lots of Balkan's cultures.

Romanians are very ashamed by Romanian Gypsies and Italians are still racist and full of stereotypes.

Good point!! Confuseduper It's just a pitty that Romanians are mistreated in Rome, and that Italians cannot make the difference between Romanians and Romanian Gypsies( i wish gypsies were Romanian because at least they would go to school or learn how to coexist in EU, the only Romanian thing they have is the passport, they don't integrate nor contribute in any way in the society). :nonnon

Is it true that each 3rd person in Bucharest is a Gypsy?

Honestly, do you even think before you ask? Gypsies in Romania represent only 2.5% of the entire population(535,000).It is true that some Gypsies don't even own an ID and is difficult to include them in the census, therefore this percentage can be estimated to 3-4%. There are 1,000,000 Gypsies in Turkey and 1,500,000 in the US.I wonder why people associate them with Romania. There are Gypsies in each country. They already have a nationality- Gypsy!!! Why to call them Romanian?

where did you take this data from? I have a friend living in Romania, she told me there are doubtlessly more than 25-30% living in Romania. I mean she didn't followed statistics, but she told me what she saw.

This statistic is in the official census done in 2002.I can give you a link to the CIA World factbook. I have seen almost every county of Romania and it's not true the Gypsy stereotype. There are more Gypsies in the South of the country( Constantza, Bucharest) but you can't really see any if you go upper. In the center of the country, Brashov, you barely see one.

"Romanian 89.5%, Hungarian 6.6%, Roma 2.5%, Ukrainian 0.3%, German 0.3%, Russian 0.2%, Turkish 0.2%, other 0.4% (2002 census)"

The Roma people (gypsies) are everywhere in Europe, most of them were leaving in East (Turkey, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Hungary....), but today we are finding gypsy caravanserai's in Western Europe also (Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, England, Sweden...) :?
