EU agriculture
#1
A European reform plan to help farmers overcome the growing demand for food looks at doing away with numerous support schemes, especially for larger farms. More of the EU's aid money would go into rural development projects. Safety-net purchase of commodity stocks with public funds at fixed prices could count on being phased out, along with farm subsidies still linked to production volumes.

countries which are rich in agriculture will have a great future, just like in the 20th century the oil countries enriched.

what is really essential is that the new production must be, if not 100% ecologically clean, then at least mostly ecologically clean, Europeans now realize the consequences of pesticides using.

I think it's important that farmers use modern high technology in growing vegetables/fruits. This requires some investments, and the state should give it to them as subsidies.

not only technology. Technique is also important. Mechanisms can be replaced by manual work. More experiments must be made for discovering new varietis of planst and increasing efficiency.

I agree Helen. This is why, yearly, the government must allocate a significant amount of funds for establishing researching laboratories and finance the scientists, thereby motivating them

Europe must raise all kind of varieties of fruits/vegetable/livestock. The climate is best for doing this thing. Europe must not depend on other countries in this context.

I agree, the climate in Europe is different. Thus, we can grow almost any kind of fruits/vegetables. But, the problem is that the agriculture in Europe is financed very little!

It's because of the IT boom. Today, a country is considered developed if its industry is developed, nobody cares about agriculture, at the same time nobody understands why the prices for food raise.

sure, we are used to buy the end-product in stores. But we never realize how much is put for producing that product. We should learn appreciate this work.

It may not be financed directly, but indirectly it is. It has a lot of tax exemption, so, it's practically the same, no?

tax exemption is good. But, for propelling agricultures, I would remove any taxes for them. Moreover, I would offer agriculturists considerable subventions.

Why does agriculture has anything to do with taxes o something like this when the global community is facing for the first time in its history a lack of food or agricultural products?

that's because there are agricultural companies that make considerable profits on selling agricultural food. Unfotunately, big companies and farmers are treated equally.

I think a big part of European agriculture will benefit from the financial crisis. The point is that many investors have redirected their investment targets. Shares have become less profitable, real-estate business is not living its best times. Agriculture seems one of the most attractive sectors.

The European agricultural policy is also defined by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). It regulates the regulation for the implementation of the rural development policy (Regulation 1698/2005)

In 2008, farmers' were caused an almost 5% decline in their real incomes, as a result of drop in the price for agricultural products along with rise in production costs.
