Moreover, SO is not settled by Ethnic Osetians only. Georgians prevail in numbers. Or they used to do.

Hence, the Land and People has more common to Georgia than to any other country.

Also, let's not get confused by Names Similarity (South Ossetia, North Ossetia). These republics have bnever ever been a unified state, and in fact the South Ossetians are of different tribe OSetians (Kudars) while North ossetians are etirely DIfferent (Two more separate sub-ethnic groups).

I think you should have knowns that what is now South Ossetia, was historical Georgian principality, where Ossetians found shelter from Mongol invaders. The notion of South Ossetia and North Ossetia has appeared only during the Soviet period in order to create and impression that this two regions were parts of the one whole. If you dont know the history, baybe you know the geography. Even geographically North and South Ossetia has nothing in common, they are separated by huge mountines. Connection between these regions was created only in 1978, when Soviet government decided to build roki tunnel. I think they had long term plans then.
