Hi Brad,
I always wanted to take a hike and begin practicing alpinism. But, I the more time goes by, the less I have it. This winter, if I have enough time, I will doubtlessly go to the Carpathians. It's in Romania, and, as I heard, it's not expensive there. Mountains are about 2000-3000 meters high. It will be a good beginning experience for me. What about you? Have you tried practicing alpinism?

Greetings! I was on the White whale in Siberia of 4100 m., the truth it was very heavy to ascend on it :banghead , the next year I gather for Elbrus of 5642 m. mountain very much not difficult, the truth height affects it a unique problem! My council if you wish to go really to the mountains, the first time it is possible попробывать and to Elbrus not difficult and does not demand special skills, and it is possible to rise there with the help of technics!

Hi guys! I consider alpinism dangerous. Even recently I heard some news that two alpinists (Americans) were found dead in mountains because a snow-slip covered and left them with no air :-(
That really discourages.

There is such Russian saying "wolves to be afraid not to go to wood"

yes, by the way Brad, aren't you afraid of those snow-slips. I mean it could happen to anybody, quite unexpectedly. Only few can survive after a strong snow-slip.

In mountains of 80 % of people perish on descent and basically it is the reason of imprudence of climbers. Лвины it is valid in mountains descend, but climbers basically lay the routes where such avalanches do not descend.

How do you spot these routs?

snow slips are unpredictable. Long time ago (about 15 years) I knew a guy who died in mountains due a snow slip that unexpectedly covered the whole region. It was a very sad story... Before this I used to go to mountains, but after I found out that, I never went again.

Some people of mountain and pull to itself, and they not under what pretext will not refuse those impressions which leave mountains. I had an experience in mountains when I remained with two companions alone with a rockfall, we have waited all night long in shelter after that I have thought that more never I will go to mountains, but I was mistaken!

well done for you! You were lucky to survive. I understand somehow your feeling. Adrenaline is incomparable to anything. What mountains were those? In Asia or where?

guys, is it true that alpinists carry with them injections of insulin (or adrenaline. sorry don't remember) for injecting in case of stiffness?

When the sun hot shines, I even removed a T-shirt when the sun is hidden by clouds at once becomes cold, so it is necessary to dress a winter jacket, at height of 5000 m. temperature falls to -20 degrees.

Insulin for diabetics, and adrenaline to start heart if it has ceased to work! Climbers stick basically strong anaesthetising, with a case to falling and crisis of bones.

no remedy can help you in mountains if back up doesn't arrive on time. Do mobile phones reach signal in mountains?

I don't think they reach 5000m height, only if the GSM base is very close, maybe.

There should be special devices that helps detecting people in mountains in case they are in trouble. Something like a radar, GPS etc.

Modern alpinists certainly carry special GPS with them. Nowadays it's easy to become anything you want, even astronauts, due to high-tech.

The only thing you need is a good medical condition.

Alpinism is the most gear-intensive type of climbing. Alpine climbing requires equipment from all the other, simpler forms of climbing: rock climbing, ice climbing, aid climbing, and mountaineering. And because of the uniquely remote and demanding settings in which alpine climbing takes place, the choice of the right equipment is more critical to success than any other type of climbing. If materialism is offensive then you’ll be much happier bouldering.
