You are not approaching your problem correctly.

First of all, if you want to look for a job in Germany, search in Germany.

"Green Card" is an American term. In German it is called Arbeitsarlaubnis (work-permit) and you can apply for it at the Auslaenderbehoerde (if you can teach English you are likely to get one).

It is not clear from your question if you want to work at the German postal authority, but if you want to, you have to have perfect German. ESL (english teaching) is therefore perfect for people who speak no German.

If you're looking for a job for US authorities, in many cases you need no "Arbeitserlaubnis". US Bases, as well as the US Embassy in Germany publish their vacancies for civilians. Go into their sites (or call their HR offices) and enquire.

The US embassy is in Berlin, but other US bases etc are in Bavaria, usually. However, you should probably know that there is a list of priorities for any opening: people whose spouse works for the Embassy/base; veterans, etc.

Good luck!

I recommend visiting the website for CPOL. This will give you any and all information that you need.

Actually, the us military hires German Nationals to work as civilian support staff. All the hiring for civilian support staff is done at the us base in Stuttgart, best thing to do is get hold of the base personel officer for Civilian Support Staff and ask them. They won't hire you out of the us because you don't live in Germany. I'd say your chances are pretty slim, because part of the deal is the us has to hire German Nationals to work in their bases.

Yes college is really basically free in Germany, you have to pay for books & some fees but really it's free. They reserve spots for foreigners so you actually have a shot. Research the German Universities & apply. You better speak great German though if you want to understand the professors.

You need to apply for a Civil Service job. If you should be able to get transferred to Germany it would be only for a time frame of 4 years, not more.
