Will the European Union ever become democratic or will it eventually have to be disbanded? Recent elections brought the EU's undemocratic nature back into focus.
The EU is like a corporate state, one vast burocracy. In the EU, unlike democracies, you don't vote for people you have to vote for parties. It is an incredibly convoluted system and at the end of the day the members of the parliament are *allocated* by the EU burocrats.

'Democracy' generally means electing some corporate sock-puppet who looks good on TV & will serve the elite's the best.
Example--what exactly has Obama done thats different from what Bush would have done?
Modern democracy is over-rated.

I don't know, but it ought to be completely disbanded.

No modern nation operates under a democracy.
They are god awfully expensive and convoluted.
What we call democracies are representative democracies, in which people vote for a representitive, who presents their position to a gathering of representitives.
Which is what exists in the EU, and elsewhere in the world. Including the US, etc.

It all depends. First of all the EU must accept that in the EU there will be state's/countries which are stronger than others, have different cultural backgrounds, customs etc. Just like in the USA not all States are like Calafornia. It might as well be disbanded if the Germans expect every country to be Germany. Iceland, Ireland, Greece, Portugal, Italy & Spain are struggling financially & Germany, Britain & France start complaining. Simply diband the EU.

I think it will become social-decomcratic.
