What is Best Martial Art?
#1
So what do you think is the best martial art?
I think it's Chinese KungFu! It is one of the oldest and it is universal, containing everything in it from grappling to punches and kicks..

I'm not a specialist in martial arts, I've never practiced them. But, my favourite is aikido. I like it due to Steven Seagal. You don't need to be strong enough to beat someone who's bigger and stronger than you.

I like Kong fu either. It requires a very good training as against other martial arts. Bruce lee was the king of kung fu. The period of his life propelled everybody to practice kung fu.

But, you can't actually give an answer for what is the best martial art! Why? Because it depends what you're gonna use it for: self-defense, increasing reaction, increasing physical potential, meditation etc.

I found this interesting information - the best martial arts is composed of:
1. HTM World Martial Arts (American Mixed Martial Arts)
2. Hiep-Tinh-Mon Vietnam (Combination of many Vietnamese kung-fu styles with elbow and knee strikes (Muay Thai) from Thailand)
3. Kickboxing (American, Muay Thai & Vietnamese Vo-Tu-Do styles of kickboxing)
4. "Daito-Ryu" Aiki-Judo-Jujutsu (The root of Aikido, Judo, and Japanese Jujutsu, also including Brazilian Jujutsu)
5. Internal Force (Vietnamese kung fu translated as: "Miraculous healing power of fresh air abdominal breathing techniques")
6. Yoga & Feng Shui instruction
7. Kenjutsu/Kendo (Including all traditional Japanese, Okinawan, and Chinese weapons)

For defense it's also good to practice Jiu-jitsu. You don't have to beat up the opponent for becoming a winner, you can simply throw him off.

Just because a style doesn't focus on the goals you are interested in doesn't make it a bad style of martial art, it just makes it not the right style for you. You have to be informed when choosing a martial art.

I prefer clasical martial arts - boxing also teaches u to avoid being punched and makes u fleet footed.

I would prefer the Wushu, as is my favorite martial art of all...

Looking on the fast. smooth and fascinating movements, and I planned to learn it when I have freetime in near future...

Ultimate Fighting Championship was orignally intended to find the best martial art. Now UFC has become a martial art in it's own right - you can now go to martial arts clubs that teach MMA, UFC and Xtreme Martial Arts.

I recently read a magazine article that suggested Shaolin Kung Fu, Ninjitsu and Krav Maga were the most "hardcore" martial arts 8-)

wow, Becka, you look pretty informed in this stuff. You must have a brother or husband practicing martial arts, right?

I have a lot of aggression to work out :langue [And a girl needs to be able to defend herself :-( ]

I did Kickboxing for a few years, and started training MMA towards the end. But I moved house recently and I'm looking for a new club. I was thinking about perhaps trying a new martial art?

good point Becka. I always liked strong girls, able to protect themselves and not crying for their husbands when they need help. Good thing would it be if all girls thought like you Confuseduper

I don't think so, Benn. As I knew that the Wushu is one of the ancient martial arts in China, and it's can be divided into various types of sub categories, such as swords, spears, daggers, knuckles etc...

The Shaolin kungfu is exactly one of the Wushu martial arts!
