Snacks - useful or harmful?
#1
Forbidding all unhealthy snacks in schools is the best way to get pupils to eat healthily, according to a study from Cardiff University. I really noticed that quick snacks is the reason why I feel sometimes unwell.

I knew that long time ago, people must eat normal food, not snacks...

"A snack food is seen in Western culture as a type of food not meant to be eaten as a main meal of the day (breakfast, lunch, dinner) but one that is intended rather to assuage a person's hunger between these meals, providing a brief supply of energy for the body, or as a food item consumed between meals purely for the enjoyment of its taste."

If snacks consist of fresh fruits and nuts. Like apples, bananas etc they are healthy in my opinion.
The problem is that people use over processed foods as snacks with lots of sugar, salt, starches, fats and other unhealthy ingredients.
Besides most of the snacks that are sold in the super market contain preservatives and artificial colors which are unhealthy too.

M.Helen, what kind of snack are you eating when you feel unwell?

Forbidding like in "Don't bring snacks to school or else... "
... if so I don't think it's a good idea...

snack, I consider, only makes your stomach work out more digestive liquid. Since a snack is only a small meal, the digestive liquid quickly digests it and then remains without any "job", consequently it rubs the stomach's walls. So I also think it's harmful

Having snacks is better than not eating anything. Prove me wrong
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

We prefer junk food, because it is more delightful than the ordinary meal.

Snacks - more delightful? You're kidding right? On the contrary, normal meals can be delightful, especially exotic food, but not junk food.

I have read a lot of diet plans and magazine articles over the last couple of years that suggest you should eat six small meals instead of three big ones - and these 'small meals' are pretty much snacks. In particular, you should have something to eat mid-morning, and something at 4pm, to maintain your blood sugar levels between meals.

In UK schools there is usually a "tuck shop" where children can buy cakes, sweets and chocolate, along with cola and milk. Or parents will give children chocolate and cakes to take to school. I think children (and parents!) should be encouraged to have healthier drinks and snacks.

six snacks during the day would is too much for me, even if they are small. I can't take food with me wherever I go, while buying "artificial" food in the city is not too healthy.

Yes, at one point I was taking three boxes of food to work with me! My colleagues thought it was a bit odd, but I lost quite a bit of weight, and felt brilliant! But now it is just too difficult to take food with me everywhere... You have to be organised, and do some cooking the night before, and make time to eat...

Becka that's great, you mean you lost weight by eating normal homemade food? I knew restaurants and fast-food are bad, and now I am sure about it. By the way, the food you carry with you might serve as a load for your body which also brings to weight losing Confuseduper

People who are responsible for the children's food at school are guilty that children have problems with their weight and stomach problems. They should make a healthy menu for children!!!, they are children and they should take care of them, should include in its menu more fruits and less fried food.
