Plenty of refugees from Georgia seek asylum in Poland now. Since May the refugee flow has gone up drastically. Over four months more than 3000 Georgian citizens applied to the Polish authorities for asylum. Remarkably, over the past 8 years there were only 400 applications ( georgiatimes . info / en/article/21262 . htm l). Friendly speaking, it is not surprising, as the joys of Western salaries, prices and unemployment benefits are tempting Georgians and make them to leave impoverished “Caucasian democracy”. But, as I know, they are not treated very well in Poland. Polish authorities try to block the entry for Georgians by all means. According to Aliens Authority in Warsaw Polish border guards send back from 50 to 100 Georgian citizens every day. You know, all these make me think that Poland intentionally tries to attract European community’s attention to the problem with these refugees and to get some financial aid for provision of the necessary amenities for them. I say, Poland actively uses its buffering role between the former USSR countries and Europe to re-establish own economy, which has seriously suffered from current crisis.
